Scroll down to find out more about this iconic game and how you could place an inside bet, the next time you visit the wheel and table.
A quick guide to Roulette
Roulette is a game that is based on trying to predict the outcome of the game before the iconic wheel is spun into action.
To play, you’ll need a Roulette wheel, a Roulette table, a small ball, betting chips, a dolly (placeholder) and a dealer.
To start, the dealer, also known as a croupier, will announce the betting window open. It is in this time frame that any players around the table wishing to play, will need to place their prediction onto the table by placing a betting chip(s) into a box that corresponds with compartments of the wheel.
The dealer will announce when the window is closing or has closed. After this time, no further bets can be placed.
The dealer will spin the iconic wheel in one direction, and enter the ball in the opposite direction. This opposing direction helps not only to create that iconic ball bounce sound, but the ball to land in any place it wishes to, creating a fair and unbiased game.
It is only when the wheel has come to a complete stop, that the dealer will announce the winning pocket details.
To mark the winning compartment, the dealer will place a small dolly/placeholder onto the winning location on the table. Once this is done, the dealer will issue any winnings to players that correctly predicted the outcome, and then clear the table of chips, creating space for a new game to begin.
The inside bet area
When looking at the Roulette table, you may notice the table is set into sections. There’s a boxed grid, each with individual numbers inside and a selection of boxes around the edge of this grid containing colours, numbers and/or words.
The grid with the individual numbers is classed as the inside bet area and where inside bets are placed.
Inside bets and how to place them
Now you know where on a Roulette table you need to place an inside bet, lets’s now take a look at just one of the many inside bets you can place.
- Straight Up – this bet is seen as the simplest bet type to place down within the inside area, as it consists of only one numbered box. To place a straight up bet, you simply need to place your betting chip(s) inside and in the middle of one the numbered boxes. This bet type carries the odds of 35:1.
