Publisher Mixtvision has partnered with Critique Gaming to bring the award-winning Interrogation: You will be deceived to PC, Mac and Linux on December 5th 2019. This noir thriller puts players in charge of a police unit trying to dismantle a terrorist organization – and the clock is ticking. Tense interrogation scenes form the heart of the investigation. Simulating real-life conversations, players must understand their subjects’ background to discover whether it is best to intimidate, outwit or empathize in order to discover the truth. With a striking visual art style, Interrogation: You will be deceived thrusts players into a world of hard practical, personal and ethical decisions, that will make them question what lines they would be prepared to cross.
Interrogation’s eye-catching, black and white sketch-drawn art-style is made possible thanks to the painstaking work of the design team, who rotoscoped thousands of photos of more than 40 actors. This diverse cast of characters exists between the binaries of good and evil. All have their own stories and motivations that play a role in the race against time players will face if they hope to stop the Liberation Front terrorist group and their radical movement from destroying society as we know it.
This noir thriller’s distinctive look also plays into the realistic conversation system. Questioning suspects requires players to expertly assess both their language and expressions. They can use these insights to manipulate emotions, such as anger, trust, and fear, to uncover the truth – sometimes turning to more dubious methods to get the job done. Players must manage an elite team and assign tasks based on their strengths to increase their chance of success. Selecting memories that serve as special skills for their character allows players to define their own play-style and make the story their own.
Time isn’t the only obstacle in the player’s path. Journalists and the public are closely watching the police force and their methods, judging mistakes and impacting the investigation. Playing like a loose cannon might lead to fast results in some cases, but the player’s mental stability and reputation are at stake. Add to this the need to carefully manage squad deployment along with the constant politics that swirl around the team in this high-stakes case and players can quickly feel the pressure of the situation mounting.
Critique Gaming’s vision for Interrogation goes beyond the foiling of the terrorists. Seeking to address many modern social issues, the game uses terrorism as a starting point to cast a critical eye on political radicalisation, police brutality and the imbalance of power between the people, authorities and corporations that lead society.

Interrogation: You will be deceived has been turning heads since it was first revealed in 2016 when it was selected for the Amber Jam, right up until earlier this year when it made the final four at the Nordic Game Discovery Contest. Its accolades include 2018 Dev.Play where it was nominated for Best Visuals, as well as taking home awards for Best Game Design and Game of Show.
Players can begin their investigation this December 5th on PC, Mac and Linux. Nintendo Switch players will be able to join the force in Spring 2020.
