Norwegian game development start-up Loeding is showcasing a first look at Jonathan Nielssen’s upcoming mystery adventure game SNOW at EGX 2019. Set in the retro- futuristic town of Barvik in 2050 Norway, players take control of 12-year old Oskar as they explore atmospheric environments, hack electronics and solve puzzles to unravel the mystery of Oskar’s hidden past and the dark secrets of his hometown.
“The main inspiration for SNOW is my hometown in Norway, especially during winter time”, says the director and lead game developer Jonathan Nielssen. “There is darkness almost all day long and there’s this mysterious atmosphere which I wanted to recreate as you explore the village of Barvik. That is why SNOW’s main focus is on its world exploration and puzzle solving elements as you solve the mystery of Oskar’s past.”
At EGX, players will have access to a short demo of the captivating experience SNOW aims to offer. To create the piece, the small indie team of developers collaborated with FBFX and Centroid3D – two industry leaders in the field of photogrammetry and motion capture, respectively. The cast also features industry stalwarts, Stephane Cornicard and Christy Meyer, famed for their roles in Horizon: Zero Dawn, Dark Souls, and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
