League of Legends, or LoL for short, was launched in October 2009 by its creator, Riot Games. It is a multiplayer online combat arena game, which has usually been free to play. The publishing companies finance it through in-game purchases that allow you to customize your characters. As seen by ESPN’s coverage of important tournaments, LoL is among the most popular in North America. There are many different tournaments and leagues for the game. One such tournament is the upcoming League of Legends Worlds 2022.
On September 29, the 24 top LoL teams worldwide will compete for the brand-new Summoner’s Cup in the League of Legends Worlds. The qualifying round will take place in Mexico City, followed by the group and knockout stages in New York City, the semis in Atlanta, and the most-awaited final round in San Francisco, all in North America.
Europe, China, Korea, Taiwan, North America, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Macao, Vietnam, Japan, Brazil, Oceania, Latin America, and Turkey make up the 24 qualified teams for the championship. Owing to Russia’s continuing annexation of Ukraine, the CIS area of Eastern Europe is the sole region not sending a team.
Starting this week, the top six LEC teams will face off on the Rift in the initial round of playoffs, and we’ll find out who will be knocked out of Worlds for the first time. The top six European teams will compete for the League of Legends European Championship title and have a chance to go to the World Championships. Europe’s four Worlds seeds make this goal sound simple, but the LEC playoff games have a history of shocking the existing order, which will also influence the much-awaited New York sportsbook promo codes. Even if they do it again, we will predict the winners of the first round anyhow.
The MAD Lions will face the Rogue in the first match.
Although the MAD Lions and Rogue dominated the LEC not so long ago, they both hit a roadblock in the season’s closing weeks. Despite finishing third and second in the standings, their performances throughout the last three games did not reflect that. The MAD Lions would have the advantage if both teams played up to their maximum capacity. However, it is very questionable whether or not either team would be able to recover enough and adjust to the metagame in time for the series.
In the second match, Team G2 Esports will be facing Misfits Gaming.
Misfits Gaming got a lot of fans because of its amazing comebacks, but G2 Esports was a crushing machine that wiped out its opponents. Even if this matchup has potential, G2 has a clear edge in a best-of-five series. Even though Misfits’ mid-laner Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié could be incredible when he’s in the area, and the team can play around it, doing it three times in a row in a best-of-five is very difficult. This is similar to the team’s strategy in the spring split. It’s unrealistic to think that your mid-laner can easily beat Rasmus “caPs” Winther in every game, as when G2 is on form, their jungle synergy is well beyond Misfits’. It is unlikely that G2 Esports will lose this match by more than three games.
Fnatic will face Excel Esports in the third match.
Many believe Fnatic will be considered the best this year with the addition of mid-laners and star top. At the same time, Excel proved itself to be the best strategic team through its map play throughout the first half of the summer split. But somehow, there was a significant probability that none of these teams would make it before the final, much less both of them.
Considering the highs and lows experienced by both squads, which comes out on top in this matchup? Fnatic has the stronger roster, with the exception of the jungle, and as we witnessed last week, their players can come through in the clutch. Excel must counter it with skilled team battle and strategic movement throughout the battlefield. A lot rides on the current form and mental stability of both sides in this contest, as in many past games. The final score will probably be 3-1 in favor of Fnatic.
Summing Up
The LEC playoff field is down to six clubs after 8 weeks and 18 games. This weekend will be their first time competing on the Rift. Two series in the top bracket will earn their respective winners a trip to the World Championship, while one series in the lower bracket will end the season for one of Fnatic or Excel Esports. There are just four seats available for the World Cup, but many teams believe they can win and make it to the North American qualifiers. The playoff games began on Friday, and we think that the MAD Lions and Rogue will add a new chapter to their already outstanding rivalry. But the LEC playoff games have a history of surprising us, so we should still see a few surprises before the season is over.
