Crystal Dynamics and co-developer PlayEveryWare have officially launched Legacy of Kain Defiance Remastered today on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are also on the way.
The beloved 2003 dark fantasy action-adventure returns fully revamped for modern platforms, featuring upgraded visuals, a refined camera system, and a wealth of bonus content including a photo mode and previously unreleased “lost levels.”
A Classic Reborn
Legacy of Kain Defiance Remastered delivers the definitive edition of the original 2003 release, bringing players back to the haunting world of Nosgoth. Once again, players step into the roles of vampire overlord Kain and his betrayed lieutenant Raziel, two powerful figures locked in a battle shaped by fate and free will.
The remaster preserves the dark atmosphere and narrative depth that made the original a cult classic, while modernising its presentation and accessibility for a new generation of players.

Also available now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (with PC coming soon) is the Heart of Darkness Collection. Priced at £44.99 / $44.99, the bundle offers nearly 20% savings compared to purchasing items separately.
The collection includes everything from the Deluxe Edition of Legacy of Kain Defiance Remastered, along with the brand-new 2D action-platformer Legacy of Kain: Ascendance, launching March 31. The bundle also includes an Ascendance-themed skin pack for the remaster.

This month marks more than just a remaster launch. On March 31, players can dive into Legacy of Kain Ascendance, a brand-new 2D action-platformer set as a prequel to Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.
Ascendance blends fast-paced combat and fluid movement with beautifully crafted retro pixel art, offering a fresh perspective on the franchise’s dark fantasy universe.
