King has commissioned legendary Hollywood blacksmith Tony Swatton to bring the Heaven’s Disk, from its latest release Legend of Solgard, to life.
Created from low carbon cold-rolled steel, the Heaven’s Disk required a massive 180-man hours to recreate. At 22lbs in weight and 18” in diameter, the impressive weapon features Mother of Pearl shell inserts from the South Pacific sea, further adding to the uniqueness of this incredible replica.
Regarded as one of the world’s premier blacksmiths, Swatton has created over 300 props and replica weapons for major TV and film productions over the course of a 30-year career at his Sword & Stone Forge in Burbank, CA, including Pirates of the Caribbean and the Dark Knight Trilogy.
“I love a fresh and original challenge and couldn’t wait to get started after King approached me about the Heaven’s Disk,” said Tony Swatton, master blacksmith at The Sword & Stone Forge. “Having the chance to test myself to create an entirely different kind of replica weapon to what I’m used to was a real creative challenge and I’m thrilled with how the Heaven’s Disk turned out.“
“Legend of Solgard has been a labour of love these past three years particularly when it comes to our heroine Embla” said Alexander Ekvall, CEO and co-founder of Snowprint Studios. “To see our vision of the Heaven’s Disk, a weapon so central to defeating the impending doom of Ragnarok, brought to life by Tony has been truly humbling and we’re excited to share exactly how he did it with the world!”
