The Chinese Room, a Sumo Digital studio, has launched the first major update for Apple Arcade exclusive Little Orpheus, adding new costumes, over 100 collectibles and a fiendish New Game+ plus mode.
Little Orpheus is a technicolour narrative platformer inspired by a bygone era of adventure from the BAFTA award-winning team behind Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture. The game casts players as Ivan Ivanovic, a Russian cosmonaut in 1962 recounting his unbelievable journey through the centre of the Earth.
Rather than unlocking at the end of the game, Little Orpheus’s all-new New Game+ mode unlocks at the end of each episode, offering players the chance to continue playing through Ivan’s incredible tale or retrace their steps to find each level’s hidden secrets and myriad collectibles.
These collectibles unlock never before seen concept art, new music and more than 100 freshly recorded lines of dialogue. Collecting every item in an episode also unlocks a new costume for Ivan that fits the theme of that level.
“With our first major update we want to give players even more reasons to play and revisit Ivan’s adventure,” said Ed Daly, studio director at The Chinese Room. “We’ve added a host of unlockable treats for fans of the game and, well this is probably top secret information, but there might even be a little tease for what’s still to come!”
A special unlockable will also offer a tease for the next major update for Little Orpheus, but further details are classified top secret for now.
Little Orpheus is available now to all Apple Arcade subscribers.
Apple Arcade is a ground-breaking game subscription service available within the App Store, offering users unlimited access to a catalogue of more than 100+ games, all playable across iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple TV.
