Save Your Game – The Red Bull Gaming Podcast is a brand-new concept challenging the most celebrated personalities in the industry to explore the games that shaped their lives, but only one can be immortalised as their ‘save game.’
In the second episode, Ryan Pessoa chats to host Frankie Ward about his unconventional path to pro, his dedication to sport and fitness, and going from playing casually at his after school club to streaming with some of football’s biggest stars, including Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sergio Agüero.
Ryan Pessoa is a Red Bull athlete and professional FIFA player for Man City Esports, and was the first UK esports player to be signed by Red Bull in 2018. A lifelong football fan, as well as discussing the games that changed his life, Ryan shares his thoughts on whether football skills can transfer to the digital pitch, and how he went from representing his university in football, to representing Man City Esports in FIFA.
Discussing the change in attitude from a casual teen player to a seasoned pro, Ryan offers a lighthearted anecdote:
“I remember there was a time one of my friends was 4-0 up against me, he was dying with laughter and I was distraught, it was like a dagger to my heart. I came back though and I actually won the game! The first loss that I did get, genuinely I could have broken down in tears, I was 16. You’re younger, and more naive. In esports you try and learn with every loss, but back then, there was no learning, I was just fuming.”
Episode two of the podcast launches today and is available to listen to now on all major podcast streaming platforms, including Apple and Spotify.
