It has been incredibly astonishing how time flies so fast. We are almost done with 2021, and although a number of games have been delayed to next year, there are still many noteworthy games being released before the year ends.
In this article, we will be listing games that are worth getting this Christmas season, and you may be able to snag some of these games with a huge discount too.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
mal crois
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for more than a year and a half being released back on March 20, 2020. However, they recently released their Version 2.0 on November 5, 2021.
It is one of the biggest updates the game has ever had, and some people even plan to fully renovate their island again because of the newly added gameplay features in the game. Some of the new things that are added are Brewster’s Cafe, The Roost, more returning characters, and you can finally invite villagers to hang out in your home.
If you have not bought this game yet or are planning to get the new Nintendo Switch OLED version, then Animal Crossing: New Horizon is one of the best games you can get for the platform.
Halo Infinite
Upcoming shooter game from 343 Industries, Halo Infinite is probably the biggest release coming in December. Although, it has been delayed a few times already since this is supposed to be a launch title with Xbox Series X/S.
Hopefully, we do not get any more delays, and the announced December 8, 2021, release date would be the last. We did see major improvements from the 2020 announcement, and the recent trailer, especially with the character design and overall details of the game.
Plus, with the release being in December, the multiplayer will definitely be filled with players for the holidays.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are the remakes of the 2006 Pokémon Diamond and Pearl back in the Nintendo DS era.
The visual has been remastered, but there are also other changes such as exp. share not being able to be turned off, HMs have been overhauled, an expanded Grand Underground, and of course, Pokémon will be able to follow you everywhere on the map.
Now, just like Animal Crossing: New Horizon, if you are planning to get the new Nintendo Switch OLED version, or even if you just have the nostalgia itch for a classic Pokémon game that you played more than a decade ago, this is a must-have to get for the platform.
Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX
Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX are remastered ports of classic late 90s games of the same name. The games are mostly known for being simulation-breeding games, although, a lot of people used to compare them to Pokémon.
In this game, you feed your monster and train them so they can become powerful. Afterwards, you can join tournaments or do some dungeon crawling after training your monster. An online play will also be available in this remaster if you want to fight against other players.
Although not as popular as Pokémon, Monster Rancher had good innovation especially on how you breed monsters. Back in the 90s, you have to use random CDs to generate monsters, which is crazy fun back then. In this remaster, it is replaced by a new music database that can be used to generate monsters by searching for CD titles.
The remake is coming out on Nintendo Switch and PC on December 9, 2021, which is just perfect timing for the holiday.
Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5 is a must-buy for enthusiasts and even for casual fans of cars. With over 500 cars available in the game, it will surely take hours before you manage to collect them all.
Drive around an open-world environment, explore it as you like, and be amazed at how the game looks because it is truly one of the best-looking racing games out there, if not the best already. Compete in races with either online play or complete its fulfilling campaign mode.
If you have not bought Forza Horizon 5 on its launch date of November 5, 2021, then it can easily be added to your want-to-buy list on Christmas.
Back 4 Blood
Back 4 Blood, the spiritual successor for the Left 4 Dead series is a great game to play during the Christmas holidays with friends. Team up with three other players in the co-op campaign, or play with more friends in the 8-player PvP mode.
What makes Back 4 Blood amazing is that every time you play a map, there will be modifiers in the game, which is thanks to the game’s Cards gameplay mechanic. There are corruption cards, which are used by the AI Director to make the campaign more difficult, while your team will draw active cards to counter the corruption.
If you have an Xbox Series X/S or Windows PC, Back 4 Blood is included on the Xbox Game Pass, so find some friends and have fun with the game.
Call of Duty: Vanguard or Battlefield 2042
The Call of Duty series and Battlefield series are both FPS giants that have been rivals for more than a decade now.
With the release of their recent games, Battlefield 2042 and Call of Duty: Vanguard, then the rivalry has been surely reignited once again. Battlefield 2042 is set in the future, while Call of Duty: Vanguard is set in the WWII era. The former has a new 128-player mode to utilize the current generation console, while the latter has more traditional Call of Duty multiplayer modes such as its infamous zombie mode.
Good thing there are quite distinct differences in both games, so either of them will be a good choice for the Christmas holidays.
Conclusion
These are the games that we think should be on your list of buying for yourself or others as a gift. It definitely has some range going from nostalgic remakes to the best racing game released so far.
