Panache Digital Games and Private Division have revealed the second episode of the video series entitled “Experiences”, where Creative Director Patrice Désilets explores Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey’s unique concepts with various experts outside of gaming.
Each video in the series features a noted specialist, from fields including anthropology, paleontology and wilderness survival. As these scientists, athletes, and creative minds share their own journeys, they discover how similar emotions and experiences are created within the game.
In the second episode – The Climber – Patrice Désilets joins Canadian rock climber and 2020 Olympics hopeful Alannah Yip during one of her training sessions to see how we still use many of the same motor skills and instincts as our ancestors to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges. Together, they discuss how both our hominid ancestors and modern-day humans push themselves to their physical limits in order to continually adapt and grow stronger. Upon visiting Panache’s studio, Alannah gets to experience the thrill of climbing, swinging, and exploring Neogene Africa from 10 million years ago, giving her a whole new perspective on climbing.
In the first episode – The Anthropologist – Patrice Désilets meets anthropologist turned filmmaker Dr. Niobe Thompson. Their shared interest for history and human evolution leads them to explore survival in Neogene Africa, an unforgiving world that players will be transported to in Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
A new “Experiences” video will be released every three weeks.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will launch for PC via the Epic Games store on August 27, 2019, and digitally on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in December 2019.
