Fans of the historic Need for Speed game franchise will have been delighted with the recent update that they may have seen doing the rounds on social media recently!
Indeed, fans of the game have had to wait rather patiently for the next installment of the video game, as the last one βNeed for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remasteredβ was released in November 2020.
Need for Speed is expected to be released in 2022
A game had been scheduled to be released last year however it had been put on the backburner for the time being as the gameβs staff were moved to work on making sure Battlefield 2042 was released on time and in an intended way.
Nonetheless, it would seem that fans will have to wait just a little longer for the high-octane action that can traditionally be experienced in this video game series, with game insider Tom Henderson mentioning βEA is expecting Need for Speed by Criterion Games to release in September/October 2022.β
It had been reported by VGC previously that the game had been set for a 2023 release as it was understood that there was no rush to get it out, although that does not appear to be the case following the recent update to have been provided.
Indeed, whilst many will head to casinos online europeos in order to find a site that will allow them to try and get their high-octane fix via other gaming means, it should be noted that many will not have to wait too long before they can dust off their favorite consoles and race around the streets once again.
Criterion Games expected to make the game
Naturally, the news that Criterion Games will be developing the new Need for Speed title will come as an added bonus, too, as the developer has been able to produce a number of classics since taking over in 2010.
The Burnout franchise maker had enjoyed immense success with titles such as Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted, and Rivals, thus giving EA a justified sense of confidence that the title will be a success once it is launched.
They did briefly lose the license to produce the game, though, with Ghost Games having taken over the baton for a number of years after working together on the 2013 βNeed for Speed: Rivalsβ title before doing the last four editions of the franchise.
However, it would seem EA has decided to go back to Criterion Games, perhaps due to the lack of success the recent titles managed to achieve although a restructuring has taken place, too.
The game series has managed to stand the test of time
Need for Speed is a video game that seems to have been able to last the test of time, which can be a rather rare feat in this day and age. The first title, which was titled βThe Need for Speedβ, was created back in 1994 and was made available to play on PS1, Saturn, and on PC.
Since then, the video game franchise has been made available to play across a variety of different game consoles, thus making sure it reaches the entire gaming market, and this new title is expected to be the same.
Of course, only time will tell whether we will all be able to race the streets in our luxury cars in 2022 or 2023, but the news that there will be another one is certainly welcomed.
