Unstoppable Film and Television has teamed up with film-funding platform, Genera, in a new initiative to back the worldwide production of new shorts. Working with Genera, with a £250,000 fund, marks another innovative step for Unstoppable after their partnership with All3Media this year. The new collaboration aims to benefit numerous filmmakers in the companies’ focus on engaging new and emerging talent.
Genera was founded by Christian Parton and launched in April 2017 and has, to date, provided funding for over two-dozen short films worldwide. The company’s distinction has also earned them over 60 partners worldwide, helping afford discounts and offers to Genera filmmakers. The £250k fund combines direct and indirect funding through cash prizes and production services.
With Unstoppable and Genera working alongside one another, strategies are set to enable the fund to reach further a field. Noel Clarke and Jason Maza, directors of Unstoppable, said of the plan:
“Short films are notoriously difficult to find funding for, so we were immediately excited by what Genera represents – a no strings attached short film funding process, that only offers support to film makers when they require, allowing them to be truly independent. Unstoppable has always consistently been at the forefront of discovering new talent and giving opportunities to short film makers will hopefully help uncover the filmmakers of the future.”
Genera’s Founder & CEO, Christian Parton said,
“I’m really excited to be working with Noel and Jason as their passion and experience for developing and nurturing up and coming filmmakers is the perfect fit for Genera. With their support we can continue to fund and support a greater number of films providing a pathway for filmmakers making their way in this industry.”
Both companies aim to widen the scope of Genera’s funding rounds, and increase the exposure to a larger audience. Plus, as well as shorts, an ambitious expansion plan is underway to include a development round for feature films and TV within the first six months.
