We’re back with another Frontier special. This time we’re covering Planet Zoo and its latest DLC pack. The Conservation pack is available now for all players and brings us some more amazing animals for our zoo and a huge amount of new scenery items.
The pack includes 4 new habitat animals and 1 new exhibit animal from around the world. The main focus with these animals is that they are endangered, you’ll have the joys of rehousing these animals in your zoos and seeing them in all their wonders. Here is the list:
Habitat Animals
- Przewalski’s Horse
- Amur Leopard
- Siamang
- Scimitar-Horned Oryx
Exhibit Animal
- Axolot
There are brand new behaviours to keep an eye out for too while playing. Siamangs can gather and perform new chorus calls which can be heard from the other side of your zoo. When I was playing it really blew me away the level of detail that has gone into this new behaviour but keep an eye out as the Siamangs aren’t the only animals that have this new behaviour. I loved watching the Siamangs interacting in their habits as when they swing around and climb it is so smoothly animated and it makes me want to see these lovely animals in person.
Not only this but you will be able to create eco-positive zoos from the array of new scenery items. These will allow you to show off all the hard conservation work that goes into your zoo. 150+ scenery pieces add to your arsenal to decorate your zoos, this pack is very heavily influenced by Conservation and Endangered animals. This is a real eye-opener into seeing the hard work and dedication that goes into the real-world zoos to look after our planet and all the animals that live on it.
This DLC back comes with a new timed scenario mode too that is inspired by the Gorkhi Tereji National Park in Mongolia. This sees you rescuing, rehabilitating, documenting and releasing as many species as possible but you’ll have to do it while being eco-positive and using renewable energy sources. I personally found it quite challenging but it was tons of fun. Though I struggle with timed event scenarios as I’m somewhat of a perfectionist and like to take time when building enclosures and zoos. Though I’m sure seasonal players of Planet Zoo will love this new DLC pack and enjoy all the new features that it offers.
Frontier has always blown me away with Planet Zoo and this pack really brings to the forefront the importance of conservation and making sure that Zoos can be as eco-friendly as possible. The new animals can be added to any zoos you have just like previous DLC packs and as always, the new animals look beautiful and the level of detail that has gone into them is incredible, the new items really bring a lovely feel to your zoos, I love all the new flowers that you can put on display and make beautiful flower gardens for guests to walk around or just to make the outside of an enclosure or seating area look pretty. It really adds to the whole building experience when you have more items at your disposal.
Conclusion
For the standard price of £7.99 I can honestly say it’s worth the money. You might not have gotten as many animals in this pack as you did with the Wetlands pack but it’s 150+ new scenic items and the whole Eco-friendly message and vibe it pumps out makes this pack feel highly educational as well as eye opening. The new behaviours mechanics really help bring the Siamangs to life and brings a whole new atmosphere to your zoos, it makes you feel like you’re actually there. This pack really helps you see that zoos aren’t always about profit and you see the crucial role that they play in protecting wildlife as well as pushing awareness of the danger’s animals face in the world, like global warmer and poachers. It may feel like Frontier are just pumping out DLC packs for Planet Zoo but when you play them and see all the effort that has gone into making the new animals, their behaviours, scenery and even the timed scenario you know that there is a real love and passion from the team and that is one reason I will continue to support Planet Zoo and buy its packs. For these reasons I’m happy to give the Conservation Pack a 7 out of 10.
