Sharp, the Japanese market leader in Android devices, enters the European smartphone market with its new models: SHARP B10, SHARP AQUOS C10, and SHARP AQUOS D10.
With its new mobile devices, Sharp focuses on elegant design and has realised almost bezel-less FreeForm display devices, which are compact enough to perfectly fit in your hands despite their large display sizes of 5.5” to 5.99”. Equipped with AQUOS technology, the C10 and D10 provide impressive images in Full-HD quality and brilliant colours. In this respect, Sharp benefits from decades of research in display technology and also capitalizes on synergies from its TV display production.
Since its foundation in 1912 Sharp ranks among the world’s leading electronic enterprises and is considered to be the market leader in Android smartphones in the Japanese domestic market. And what’s more, the company can rely on longstanding experience in innovative research and development. Indeed, back in 2000 Sharp designed a mobile phone with a built-in camera, and in 2003 it became the first manufacturer to introduce a mobile phone with a megapixel camera to the market.
As a producer of powerful high-end displays and tiny camera modules, Sharp has played a significant role in the smartphone revolution. Re-entering the European market, Sharp continues on its original road of success, finding support in its parent company, Foxconn.
SHARP AQUOS D10 – Invented For You
Just in time for the start of IFA 2018, Sharp is launching the SHARP AQUOS D10. The 5.99” (14.9cm) display, with its front camera embedded in the upper margin, covers 91 percent of the device’s front and extends to the frame at all 4 sides.
Compared to other smartphones, the Aquos D10 provides a bigger display in relatively small device dimensions to offer greater portability and ease of use. This is achieved by Sharp’s proprietary displays with FreeForm technology. Moreover, a Full HD+ resolution (2,160 x 1,080 pixels) delivers stunning image quality and achieves vibrant colours due to AQUOS technology, also known from high-quality SHARP AQUOS TV sets. The brilliant display with WCGP (Wider Color Gamut Panel) is easy to use, even in wet conditions.
The first-class main camera of the SHARP AQUOS D10 features an optical zoom which delivers exceptionally sharp and brilliant pictures even in low light due to its 12 and 13 MP sensors. The additional front camera with 16 MP resolution guarantees crisp selfies and is responsible for unlocking the device via facial recognition.
The 2,900 mAh battery has a talk time of more than 20 hours and a stand-by time of about 525 hours. The internal memory of 64GB can be extended with a micro SD card and thus provides enough space for photos, music, and apps. Additionally, customers have the option to insert a second SIM card into the SHARP AQUOS D10. This configuration allows the user to combine their business and personal contacts into one device, or to make cheap calls abroad using a local network local provider without changing SIM cards permanently.
SHARP AQUOS C10 – Get The Most
With the AQUOS C10, Sharp offers a feature-packed smartphone that comes in a stylish design. Sharp also utilises FreeFrom technology for an almost bezel-less 5.5’’ LCD display (13.97cm) with full HD+ resolution covering 87.5 per cent of the device’s front.
For spontaneous selfies or holiday memories with a lasting effect, the SHARP AQUOS C10 with powerful cameras is always the right choice. A dual camera is used at the back, that consists of a 12 MP sensor with an f/1.75 aperture and an 8 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. With the high luminous intensity of both sensors, perfect pictures are possible in low light – even functioning brilliantly in concerts or at twilight. The front camera is equipped with an 8 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and ensures crystal clear portraits and selfies. Apart from unlocking the SHARP AQUOS C10 by entering a code, you can easily unlock it via facial recognition.
The internal memory of 64GB can be extended with a micro SD card. Optionally, you can insert a second SIM card instead. The 2,700 mAh battery has a talk time of approximately 19 hours.
SHARP B10 – Simply Get More
The SHARP B10 distinguishes itself with fantastic features and an attractive price point. The 5.7“ HD+ display (14.5cm) with a resolution of 1,440 x 720 pixels covers 80 per cent of the device’s front. The back of the B10 is equipped with a fingerprint sensor, but it is also possible to unlock it via facial recognition.
A further highlight of the SHARP B10 is the dual front camera, consisting of a 13 megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a wide angle camera with an 8 MP sensor. The camera’s coverage angle of 120 degrees enables extensive landscape photographs and group pictures. The front camera captures pictures with a 13 MP sensor and an f/2.2 aperture.
The dual SIM slot provides space for two SIM cards – great for simultaneous business and private connections – or one SIM card plus a memory extension. So the internal memory of 32GB can be extended to 128GB with an SD card. An extremely powerful 4,000 mAh battery lasts for 21.5 hours talk time or up to 675 hours stand-by time.
At IFA 2018, Sharp formally introduces its new smartphone lineup to Europe. “We are proud to announce the re-entry onto the European smartphone market,” says Yoshihisa (Bob) Ishida, Executive Vice President Sharp, Chief Executive Officer Europe Business. “In doing so we benefit from decades of research and development in the mobile phone business, that now brings about significant customer benefits in the areas of design, resolution, and image quality.”
