System 3, one of the most iconic names in video game history, has officially launched The Last Ninja Collection + Bonus Games on Steam for PC, giving retro fans the chance to relive a defining era of gaming history.
The collection celebrates the golden age of 8-bit and 16-bit gaming through authentic emulations of the original Commodore 64, Amiga, and Spectrum releases. Rather than a simple compilation, this release serves as a preservation project for some of the most influential games of their time, faithfully presented for modern Windows PCs via Steam.

Physical Editions Coming Soon
For collectors, physical editions will also be available to pre-order shortly via the System 3 website. These include versions for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5.
The PC physical edition includes a DVD containing the game, which links to a Steam account and activates using a Steam code. Xbox Series X|S players should note that the collection will be available digitally only on that platform.
A Celebration of a Retro Classic
First released in 1987, The Last Ninja series became legendary for its innovative gameplay, striking isometric visuals, atmospheric music, and ambitious puzzle-driven design. The franchise went on to receive widespread critical acclaim and helped define the action-adventure genre during the home computer boom.
This definitive collection marks the first time the entire Last Ninja series—alongside additional System 3 classics—has been brought together in one package, faithfully emulated and easily accessible on modern hardware.
What’s Included in the Collection
The Last Ninja Collection + Bonus Games includes multiple versions of each title where available, covering C64, Amiga, and Spectrum releases:
- The Last Ninja (C64 & Amiga) – A genre-defining action-adventure that set new standards in the late 1980s with its handcrafted environments, puzzle-solving, and combat.
- The Last Ninja 2 (C64, Spectrum & Amiga) – Widely regarded as a masterpiece, praised for its detailed visuals, immersive soundtrack, and award-winning design.
- The Last Ninja 3 (C64 & Amiga) – A historic release that became the first computer game to receive a perfect 100% review score.
- Ninja Remix – A reworked edition featuring enhanced soundtracks, updated visuals, and refined gameplay elements.
- International Karate / World Championship Karate (Spectrum & C64) – The first European-developed game to top the US C64 Billboard charts and a CES Showcase Award winner in 1986.
- IK+ (C64, Spectrum & Amiga) – A multi-award-winning sequel that refined the martial arts formula with improved visuals and surprisingly advanced AI.
- Bangkok Knights (C64 & Amiga) – A Muay Thai–focused fighting game that introduced large, distinct characters and reportedly influenced the original Street Fighter.
Preserving a Gaming Legacy
Commenting on the launch, Mark Cale, founder and CEO of System 3, shared his pride in bringing the collection to modern platforms:
“I am immensely proud that we can bring The Last Ninja Collection + Bonus Games to Steam today, played exactly as they were on the original machines, and as a tribute to all the fans who have supported the series over the years. Having originally designed and published these games, it has always mattered to me that their legacy is protected.”
Cale also highlighted the franchise’s historic success, noting that The Last Ninja became the industry’s largest-selling C64 game series, with over 23 million copies sold worldwide.
The Last Ninja Collection + Bonus Games is available now on Steam for PC, with physical editions for consoles and PC arriving soon.
