Sunday 24th January has been dubbed ‘Consol-ing Sunday’ after new research revealed it is likely to be one of the busiest gaming days of the year, as Brits turn to their controllers for consolation amid bad weather, dark evenings and lockdown restrictions.
The new figures from research commissioned by Flipz reveal over three quarters (79%) of gamers agree the bad weather and dark evenings in January make it an ideal time for gaming, whilst almost half (47%) admit they play to escape everyday reality.
Meanwhile three quarters (75%) of gamers say they have been playing more during lockdown than ever before, and over half (53%) of gamers say they prefer to snack and keep playing when hungry.
The number of people playing video games on Consoling Sunday is expected to peak as nearly half of the country’s gamers play on a Sunday (45%) and current weather forecasts predict miserable weather. Gaming-snack-of-choice Flipz is set to come to the rescue by teaming up with Starship’s self-driving, contactless delivery robots to offer gamers a Consol-ation Package this Sunday.
The limited-edition Flipz package will be available for players in Starship’s Milton Keynes delivery zone on Consoling Sunday, 24th January. The contactless delivery of goodies costs £5 and includes packets of the brand new Flipz Cookies & Cream, extra refreshments, blue light glasses and a £50 gaming voucher.
All gamers need to do is log onto the Starship app, select Flipz as the food delivery choice and carry on playing until their tasty snacks arrive.
Jonathan Bull, Marketing Director, Flipz UK&I , said,
“We’re on a mission to keep gamers fuelled, especially on Consoling Sunday, as we know snacks make gaming more enjoyable for many gamers (55%). Sweet or salty snacks are the two most popular, but with Flipz, you get the best of both. We’re confident that, if anyone can, gamers will recognise the winning combo of sweet and salty in our new Flipz Cookies & Cream.”
The new Flipz Cookies & Cream flavour joined the line-up of sweet and salty pretzels this month, with the smooth cookies and cream flavour glaze making the perfect combo with salty pretzels.
Flipz is on a mission to help gamers improve their snacking experience in 2021 with super-charged sweet and salty combos.
