The live streaming industry is thriving amid the coronavirus outbreak, with the global market growing by 99% year-on-year in terms of hours watched.
According to data gathered by SafeBettingSites.com, the three leading video game publishers hit 2.17bn hours watched on live streaming platforms in the second quarter of 2020. With a total of 1.13bn hours watched in this period, Riot Games ranked as the leading video game publisher globally.
Total Number of Hours Watched on Live Streaming Platforms Jumped to 7.5bn in Q2 2020
Epic Games ranked as the second most-watched video game publisher in the second quarter of 2020, revealed Statista and Streamlabs data. The publisher responsible for the worldwide gaming phenomenon, Fortnite, hit a total of 535.51 million hours watched on live streaming platforms between April and June.
An American video game developer and publisher, Valve, ranked third on this list. Statistics indicate the publisher of the gaming megahit titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 reached more than 510 million hours watched in this period.
Statistics show almost 7.5bn hours had been watched on the live streaming platforms in the second quarter of the year. The three leading video game publishers accounted for nearly 30% of that amount.
Valorant was the Most-watched Game in Q2 2020
Analyzed by platforms, Twitch represents the market leader with over 5bn watched hours and 67.6% market share in the second quarter of 2020. With more than 1.5bn hours watched and a 20% share, YouTube Gaming ranked as the second-largest live streaming platform for gamers. Facebook and Mixer follow with 822.5million and 106.2 million watched hours, respectively.
The Streamlabs data revealed Valorant was the most popular video game on live streaming platforms in the second quarter of 2020. A free-to-play multiplayer tactical first-person shooter developed and published by Riot Games reached more than 534 million hours watched between April and June.
PUBG Mobile ranked second, with 237.4 million hours watched on the live streaming platforms in this period. The Epic Games megahit, Fornite, followed with 174.8 million hours, respectively.
