Casinos are big businesses, collectively generating billions of pounds in revenue each year. To attract new players and keep existing players coming back for more gaming action, casinos need to advertise. Many casino operators focus on advertising their gambling services through the TV. Indeed, some operators spend significant sums of money on TV advertising campaigns to drum up interest in a casino and hopefully encourage enough people to play there.
One of the best aspects of advertising is that it’s incredibly creative. You do get some adverts that aren’t really that inventive at all; they’re predictable, just like other similar adverts, and they don’t really inspire you to buy into whatever’s being advertised. But then there are some adverts that a lot of thought has gone into. Many adverts step outside the box and don’t necessarily focus on the product or service being advertised. Some feature celebrity endorsements, some are deliberately controversial, and some are desperately attention-grabbing.
Online gambling in the UK is very popular, indeed. The country’s online gambling industry is huge, and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. There are constantly new games coming to the casinos, and even new casinos available to UK players popping up from time to time. Casinos have more and more competition. Operators need to advertise in a way that makes their own establishment stand out from the many others on the market. This necessity to be different has resulted in some very creative, must-see casino TV adverts. Here’s a look at some of the best adverts for casinos that have ever been seen on UK televisions. They’ve been used to promote things such as sign-up bonus offers, limited-time offers and newly designed websites.
PlayOJO Casino
One of the most exciting and innovative online casinos around is PlayOJO. What sets this platform apart from most others is the fact that there are no wagering requirements, so you’re free to withdraw your winnings whenever you want without having to play through them a set number of times. In 2018, PlayOJO Casino ran a TV advertising campaign focusing on how it is a lot fairer than others. This advert features an alpaca who has lost his mojo – before long, he starts playing at PlayOJO and gets his mojo back! The scene around him starts off as dreary and drizzly, though once he starts playing, everything’s bright and lively. The alpaca even starts dancing and showing off his moves as energetic dance music starts playing. This advert does a very good job of attracting people’s attention and showing them that PlayOJO isn’t afraid to do things differently.
BGO Casino
Back in 2014, BGO Casino launched a somewhat quirky TV advertising campaign called ‘Beat the Boss’. This campaign starred actor Verne Troyer, best known for his role as Mini Me in the Austin Powers films. Its purpose was simply to encourage those who hadn’t yet signed up to BGO to visit the casino, sign up an start playing. The premise of the TV advertising campaign was that Troyer was the hot-headed boss of the casino looking for people to take him on at games and try to beat him. The campaign ran in conjunction with a series of bonus offers at BGO. Players got to take on a range of exciting challenges, with rewards including free spins, match bonuses and more. The Beat the Boss TV campaign for BGO Casino stood out because of its comedic tone. Check out this video to see Troyer as the lively boss of BGO Casino.
Party Casino
The name says it all – Party Casino is the online gambling site for you if you’re looking for a good time and want to let your hair down. This fun and friendly platform has been entertaining UK players for over two decades now and thankfully, the party doesn’t show any signs of ending any time soon. In 2018, the casino launched a classy and stylish TV advertising campaign to promote the website itself, as well as a competition with an expensive car as its grand prize. The advert isn’t really attention-grabbing or controversial in any way. Instead, it simply reinforces the Party Casino brand, using attractive visuals and showcasing the sort of party atmosphere the casino’s all about. It’s all about the finer side of gambling and features shots of a superyacht full of partygoers, an upscale land-based casino and a sophisticated club where people are living it up.
Virgin Games
When the Virgin Games online casino underwent a makeover, a TV advertising campaign was launched to promote the new-look casino. The advert is based around the hashtag #LiveALittle and focuses on an undead vampire living in the real world. He has a job as a supermarket checkout operator, but being a vampire he has a problem whenever it comes to handling garlic. We see Vlad get zapped when he touches some garlic that a sweet old lady wants to buy. Next, we see Vlad at a party with one of his hands bandaged. He’s playing slots on his mobile as he waits for his girlfriend to arrive. His girlfriend isn’t the young brunette in a red dress, instead, it’s the little old lady who wanted to buy some garlic! This advert is quirky, charming and quite funny; it’s rather unexpected as well. After watching this advert, you’ll definitely want to live a little!
Foxy Casino
Since launching in 2015, Foxy Casino has gained a reputation for being a pretty fun establishment with plenty of games and generous bonuses. Foxy formed a partnership with Heather Graham that saw the actress appear in various promotional pieces for the casino, including some TV ads. There’s one TV advert, in particular, that’s worth mentioning. This ad reveals Graham to be the Foxy mascot and has the tagline: ‘Sometimes you’ve got to play Foxy to get what you want’. A showrunner knocks on Foxy/Heather’s door, to which the actress replies (in Foxy’s familiar northern accent) that she’s just ‘having a waz’. We then see the actress in quite provocative clothing playing at Foxy on her tablet, before saying the advert’s tagline. It’s a reasonable assumption to make that those at Foxy Casino decided to recruit a famous actress to front their promotional campaign following BGO’s decision to hire Verne Troyer.
More Adverts to Come
The casino TV adverts listed above are just some of the many adverts to promote casinos that have hit TV screens. As you can see, they tend to be quite outlandish and unexpected, though some of them play it safe and are a bit more predictable. Keep an eye out for casino adverts the next time you’re watching TV – you never know what adverts might pop up! As online casinos continue to get more competitive, there are sure to be many more creative, imaginative and downright weird adverts launched in the near future. Even if these adverts don’t convince you to sign up to online casinos, many of them are still worth watching!
