2019 strikes into Season 9 of League of Legends. There are the usual updates, new look, new rewards, new prestige skins and such. But the ranking system has also been refined. Two new tiers have been added to help make the climb to the top more even-keeled.
League of Legends has always been a difficult climb to the top, but there are sections where your increase in skill seems to catapult you into the next division or a couple of divisions up the tier, say in the Gold tier, and then other times where you know you have gotten a lot better you are not advancing. You’ve really started to hone your mechanics, getting all of those auto-attacks in between spells, landing your skill shots and starting to look good with your champion … But you seem to be stuck and your rank won’t really budge.
The new ranking system should give a more rewarding, pleasing experience as players work their way towards the top where the best players reside. Hopefully, this will motivate more people to put in the work to reach the top rankings where they could earn spots on teams that compete in league tournaments that get covered top online sportsbooks like Sportsbetting.ag.
LKC Spring Playoffs (LoL Champions Korea)
The LKC Spring Playoffs are coming up and SK Telecom T1 is the top-ranked team at the moment. They are built so well that any team member could be the one that takes over in a game or series. That said, they are underdogs in their upcoming match against Griffen on April 13th.
Griffen is ranked No. 2 by ESPN. They held the No. 1 spot before getting spanked back-to-back. But they bounced back and are in prime position to defeat the new No. 1 and take their spot back. That said, the odds are not heavily in their favor. At -167 to win, their perceived advantage over SKT is only moderate.
VCS Spring Playoffs (Vietnam Championship Series)
Also on April 13th, we’ll smash into the VCS Spring Playoffs. Evos will have the tough task of taking down Phong Vu Buffalo. Evos are massive underdogs, with PVB huge -667 favorites to win in the matchup.
LEC Spring Split Playoffs (European LoL Championship Series)
Origen will try to take down Fnatic. This should be a great matchup. Fnatic holds the global No. 10 spot, while Origen sits at No. 12. Fnatic is coming off of big wins against Splyce and Vitality. Origen is coming off a 3-0 loss to G2 Esports.
This is an important meeting in the European Championship series because Origen at 12-6 is sitting in second place in the spring standings. Fnatic is just behind them at 11-7. If Fnatic wins (they are -250 favorites to do so), they will be tied at 12-7 each but Fnatic will have the extra head-to-head victory and move into that second-place spot just below G2 Esports.
Other Matches on April 13th
Detonation Focusme is a huge favorite -2000 over Unsold Stuff Gaming over in Japan. We should expect Detonation to absolutely dominate that meeting. The in the LPL, we have the makings of a great battle between JD Gaming and Funplus Phoenix. Over in the TCL, we have another great match between SuperMassive and Fenerbahce. SuperMassive is listed as -250 favorites and are in a great position to advance further.
