Working with leading opticians, Gaming Visual Impairments have produced a series of images that reveals how some of the most popular games look, through the eyes of those suffering with visual impairments.
With approximately 1 in 8 gamers suffering from visual impairments, the project displays the most popular games through the colour blindness of:
- Deuteranomaly – a reduced sensitivity to green light and the most common form of colour blindness
- Protanomaly – a reduced sensitivity to red light
- Protanopia – people who are unable to perceive any ‘red’ light.
- Tritanomaly – a reduced sensitivity to blue light and one of the rarest types of colour blindness
- Tritanopia – people who are unable to perceive any ‘blue’ light.
How each game looks with visual impairments
As part of the study, Gaming Visual Impairments surveyed 200 colour blind gamers and nearly half stated that they had issues playing certain games.
Using photo editing software, the images below provide an overview of how some of the most popular games are enjoyed by those with visual impairments.
