Do you want to know more about Grand Theft Auto 6? You’re not the only one who feels this way, as many believe it could be one of the best games of the era. Although Rockstar Games has yet to officially reveal the highly anticipated next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, fans are thrilled and speculating. While it may seem premature or optimistic to be excited about a game that hasn’t been formally released, Grand Theft Auto 6 isn’t just a pipe dream.
It’s no secret that GTA 6 is incredibly popular and any news, no matter how insignificant, is anxiously awaited by fans. In a historical context, though, it’s crucial to consider how sequels affect their predecessors. Some instances will be from the GTA series, while others will be from elsewhere.
So, when will GTA 6 be released? Sadly, the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 has yet to be formally revealed, let alone given a release date. That means there’s not a lot of information about Grand Theft Auto 6 from creator Rockstar Games right now, but it doesn’t mean we don’t have a good idea of when we’ll be able to play it.
The marketing budget of publisher Take-Two Interactive may have provided us with our most reliable GTA 6 release date hint so far. The company expects to spend $89 million on marketing between April 2023 and March 2024, according to Take-10-K Two’s SEC filing (which lays out financial plans for the next five years). This is a significant increase and, as the report points out, more than half of the marketing budget expected for any other fiscal year over the next decade. This led us to think that the spike is related to the release of GTA 6 around this period.
Rockstar is holding out on announcing the game until it is confident it will achieve its release date to avoid any delays but does not want to do it by forcing employees to work long hours to fulfil a deadline. GTA 6 will most likely only be available on PS5, Xbox One X/S, and PC. Given the present PS5 and Xbox Series X shortages, Rockstar Games appears to be holding off until these platforms have a large enough market or until most consumers can get their hands on them.
There have been various reports about possible GTA 6 locations, including a return to Vice City or a setting that spans the entire United States. According to the most recent information, which surfaced in June 2021, the GTA 6 setting would be a modern-day reproduction of Vice City.
However, in the year 2020, we received information from a different source. According to them, the game’s codename is Project Americas since it would be set in numerous nations, including Brazil in a fictional metropolis modelled on Rio de Janeiro and Vice City in the United States. According to the rumour, Netflix’s Narcos would have a significant influence on the storyline.
Some Reddit users discovered in March 2020 that the gtavi.com domain owned by Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two no longer links to Rockstar’s website. Instead, it now returns an error. People naturally assumed that this suggested Rockstar was planning to use the dormant web address somehow, possibly with a reveal. However, almost a year later, nothing has come of it.
This was backed up by a photo of a letter allegedly written by location manager Leah Sokolowsky that has surfaced on Reddit and Twitter, containing a request on behalf of the Rockstar Games development team to visit ‘primarily interior spaces’ in Florida to research and photograph these locations in order to inspire in-game locales. If true, this perfectly fits the Project Americas idea, which claims that GTA 6 will take us to Vice City (Rockstar’s Miami) and South America.
Whatever GTA 6 option you choose, you can be sure it will feature Rockstar’s sarcastic and biting humour, as well as plenty of distractions to keep you from the game’s core tasks.
According to the leak, you’ll be creating your own drug empire utilising a mechanic similar to Vice City Stories, but considerably more in-depth – similar to, but larger than, GTA Online. In Red Dead Redemption 2, your truck will function similarly to the horse, allowing you to store your gear in the trunk rather than on your character. According to this leak, the game will be set in the 1970s and 1980s, with buildings that change and degrade through time, and the weather playing a significant part.
A GTA 6 plot might take many different forms. Narratives in the Grand Theft Auto series have covered various topics and tones, from GTA 4’s harsh critique of capitalism to GTA 5’s relatively light and amusing manner. Unfortunately, as of now, we’re not aware of any specific GTA 6 storylines.
