Mousepads are useful to use when using a PC even more so when you are gaming, they offer a type of support for your wrists as well as a smooth surface for you mouse to glide across. I have had a few in my time, I’ve had your bare basic mats, ones that have had boobs on them to offer that extra bit of support for your wrists and even used a card games mat that had one of the characters from a game on it. Though none of them was what I was looking for personally, each had their pros and cons, but overall, they just weren’t for me. Now I have moved onto the Genesis Carbon 500 Ultra Blaze Mouse Pad to see if this mouse pad has what it takes to become the new desk guardian and the perfect surface for my mouse to dance upon.
First Impressions
When I received it in the post, it came combined in a big box with the other Genesis product I ordered which I will also be covering, so keep an eye out for that review. The packaging took me by surprise at first because I didnāt expect it to be that big, I know it said Ultra Large on the description but wasn’t thinking this big. I looked at the measurements on the side of the box and came to a sudden fear that it might actually be too big for my current desk but luckily it wasnāt, it just fit. It was rolled up inside the box and when I opened the lid it was easy to just slide the pad out. I then rolled the pad out on my bed just so I could get a look at it before popping it on the desk, I really liked it and instantly could tell that the underside of the pad had the Anti-Slip rubber base on it. The top of the pad was smooth to the touch and I liked the Edge stitching. The black and red colour scheme popped and the checker like pattern looks subtle but not too dominant which again was a winner for me.
The mouse pad and I
So, after making a huge amount of room for the Carbon Blaze pad, it was time to put everything back on top of it. Currently, my monitor, PlayStation 4, Switch, keyboard and mouse are sitting in their places on top of the pad which realistically means that the design and most of the pad is covered up and you canāt see much of it. That isnāt a problem however, luckily, there wasn’t a cool design on the pad because I wouldnāt see it. I can live with this because what I can see is cool and I do get a bit of the red pattern design as well as the cool black finish. In terms of the visual side of things, I do get some of the design. Itās super soft and smooth and my mouse tracking on the pad is probably the best I have gotten out of my previous ones. The keyboard is placed quite central on the pad as well as the magnetic wrist support that attaches to the bottom of it, I do almost get a bit of overhang at the front of my desk but luckily I do get away with it, there are only a few centimetres between the edge of the desk and the pad but in all honestly I feel it does fit quite snug on the desk and the rubber base bottom does help with keeping the mat in its place. Iām very happy with the overall product and have to say it is probably my favourite mouse pad that I have owned, its simple design adds to my overall gaming setup and makes my desk look that little bit better, It would have been that little bit better if there were some RGB lights on it like the Genesis Boron 500 but I can live without that seeing as my mouse, keyboard, desk and tower all have flashing lights.

Conclusion
The Genesis Carbon 500 Ultra Blaze Mouse Pad is a decent mouse pad and one that I am very happy to use. Its simple design, edge stitching and anti-slip rubber base are perfect for a gaming mouse pad and is a great addition to anyoneās desk the only thing I would point out is to make sure you have space first to make sure you can accommodate this behemoth of a pad. Although most of the pad is hidden it still gives me high precision when it comes to mouse motion tracking and a comfortable surface to rest my wrists on while gaming and just using my computer for general use. I wouldnāt say this mouse pad blows me away however, I do think it fits the brief when it comes to offering everything you need when it comes to a mouse pad and for those reasons, Iām happy to give the Carbon 500 Ultra Blaze a score of 7 out of ten.
