For as long as I can remember I have always used cheap speakers when it comes to my PC, the last ones I had were some cheap Logitech ones that I got from Tesco a while ago and they have never let me down. Over the last few months, I have had the pleasure of upgrading my gaming setup and I thought why not take this opportunity and get a well-needed speaker upgrade too. That’s where the Genesis Helium 600 speakers come into the picture and help make my dream a reality. If you have followed my reviews or have read my other recent review on the Genesis Carbon 500 Ultra Blaze you will notice that my setup has kind of sold out to Genesis but this is for a really good reason. I find that their products are really worth your time and they pretty much offer everything gamers need to get a perfect setup. With that being said the Helium 600 speakers have really made my time using my PC a lot more pleasurable not only while playing games but while listening to music on Spotify and YouTube.
First Impressions
It arrived promptly and in a big box with plenty of protection during transport. The packaging for the actual speaker was a decent size so I could see why the delivery packaging was big. Once removed from the delivery box I got to see the Helium 600 speakers packaging, it was covered in all the information about the speaker and even had a handy handle at the top of the box making it very easy to move around. There was a bit of weight to the box but the handle didn’t show any signs of breaking which is good, once the box was opened you could see all the parts neat packaged and securely in place, which was fantastic, it did take me some time to get everything out as it was tightly packed but that is a good thing, just make removing it from the packaging a bit harder as I didn’t want to damage anything. When I first saw the speakers and sub, I did like the basic design and style that they have gone for, I also like the wood effect you get and think it adds an extra touch to the overall product. The biggest problem I had was that it didn’t come with a UK plug, so I had to go out of my way to pick one up just to be able to plug it in, I thought this was bad seeing as you are paying a lot for the speaker and would have thought it would come with an adaptor but sadly it didn’t. They were very easy to set up though with my desk being a bit on the small side, not everything fit on it, the two speakers sit nicely at each corner but the sub sadly finds itself sitting under the desk away from everything else, which makes accessing the bass and volume knobs on the side of the sub more difficult, luckily it comes with a volume controller that sits on top of my computer or on my desk depending on how I feel to control the overall volume.
The Speakers for me?
The Helium 600 speakers offer high-quality sound with two high-class satellite speakers with the power of RMS 15W which when combined with the subwoofer offer a total RMS power of 60W. The speaker’s high-quality sound comes from the scope of medium and high frequencies and uses magnetic shielding to stop other devices from interfering with them. The powerful subwoofer has a 6.5-inch speaker enclosed in a wooden case which gives the bass that added reflex which means you get loud and deep bass. On the right-hand side of the subwoofer, you have two dials that control the bass level as well as volume level. The handy volume control dial comes with a mini-jack output so that you can connect your headphones to them or any other device that uses mini-jack ports. The cable is 1.7m long which offers enough length to be able to be placed anywhere on the desk which is highly convenient.
While using these speakers I have been able to enjoy gaming more as they allow a more immersive experience as the sound quality from the games is a hell of a lot better than any speakers I have used before. I am so happy that I have had the chance to cover these speakers because it makes you realise that there is more to gaming than just the overall gameplay side of it, if you have something that creates amazing sound it brings another element into play that most gamers might miss out on. It adds levels to the game where footprints are louder when closer and quieter when further away and just little things like this help improve your gaming experience and truly revolutionise the enjoyment you get out of gaming. I can honestly say without a doubt that adding these to my gaming setup has been the best decision I have made with the whole set up and I can’t wait to keep using them in the future.

Conclusion
The Genesis Helium 600 speakers are a brilliant addition to my setup and one that has been needed for a long time, the design is lovely and the audio quality is perfect, and adds to the overall gaming experience. The only problems that I came across with the Helium 600 are that the plug didn’t come with a UK power adaptor so I had to go out and get one, there is a bit of a price tag, they cost around £91.37 on Amazon and that doesn’t include delivery charges. You might be able to find better and cheaper speakers if you look in the right places but for me, they do everything that I need them to do which is excellent. The volume control dial is very useful and helps with the ability to control the volume with ease. The subwoofer amplifies on the Helium 600 is good and offers some decent bass which I haven’t had with my PC system, this is due to my previous speakers not having a good subwoofer on them. If you are in the market for some new speakers then it might be worth heading over to the Genesis website to check them out for yourself. This speaker is a nice piece of kit, though make sure if you are living in the UK that you have an adaptor ready for when they arrive or if you manage to find them in a store pick up an adaptor too. For these reasons, I’m giving the Helium 600 Speakers an 8 out of 10.
You can grab these on Amazon for around £85.00 here if interested. (None Affiliated Link)
