Starzplay has released the international trailer for the gender-flipped TV adaptation of the romantic comedy film and novel “High Fidelity.” The platform will premiere the series on Thursday, 10 September exclusively in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latin America, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, with new episodes going up weekly.
Inspired by Nick Hornby’s novel and the Touchstone film of the same name, the series reimagines the story from the female perspective. Zoë Kravitz (“Big Little Lies”, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Mad Max: Fury Road) stars as Rob, the ultimate music fan and record store owner who’s obsessed with pop culture and Top Five lists – a female take on the character played in the movie by John Cusack – talking straight to the camera as she chronicles past relationships.
“High Fidelity” was developed for television by writers Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka, both known for their work on “Ugly Betty,” “Hart Of Dixie,” “State Of Affairs” and “Chicago Fire.” Series star Zoë Kravitz serves as executive producer, alongside West and Kucserka. Midnight Radio’s Scott Rosenberg, Josh Applebaum, André Nemec, and Jeff Pinkner are also executive producers, as well as Nick Hornby, Jeffrey Reiner, and Jesse Peretz. Produced for Hulu in the U.S., the series is an ABC Signature production, a part of Disney Television Studios.
Starzplay subscribers have access to an exclusive line-up of premium programming including STARZ Original series such as “The Spanish Princess” and the highly-anticipated upcoming series “Power Book II: Ghost” starring Mary J. Blige the same day they launch in the US; 2020 Emmy-nominated series such as the modern romantic drama, “Normal People,” the genre-bending period dramedy “The Great” starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult, and the award-winning series “The Act” starring Academy Award Winner Patricia Arquette and Joey King; and a blockbuster movie library featuring thousands of titles.
