Indie Arena Booth announced that its first digital event Indie Arena Booth Online, which took place during gamescom 2020 August 27-30, was attended by more than 20,000 virtual guests.
An in-browser multiplayer platform hosting 185 indie games from developers around the world, Indie Arena Booth Online was met with widespread acclaim in its inaugural year. Gamers and industry players alike welcomed its innovation and accessibility. Each developer was able to build and customize their own booth, crafting a setup that best suited their game’s unique vision using a library of more than 1,200 art assets.
Through gamescom 2020, Indie Arena Booth Online staged its main show on Twitch, hosted by BAFTA Games presenter and Level Up Link Up founder Shay Thompson. It also partnered with What’s Good Games’ Andrea Rene to host two streams dedicated to discussing diversity and accessibility in indie games, and with Steam and GOG on sales events and promotions.
“Indie Arena Booth Online was not only the first in-browser exhibition in an MMO format; it was a confluence of initiatives and innovations that we brought together to give our developers an unprecedented reach,” said Wolf Lang, CEO of Super Crowd Entertainment, the force behind Indie Arena Booth. “We developed this concept together with our partners from across the last eight years, drawing on their talents and experience to build a network of streaming, sales, and demo events. We couldn’t be happier about this outcome for truly pioneering work the gaming industry has never needed more.”
On Sunday, Indie Arena Booth Online also won gamescom 2020’s “Heart of Gaming” award.
Overall, Indie Arena Booth saw more than 20,000,000 impressions across the website, Twitch, social media, Steam and GOG sales, related news and TV broadcasts in August.
