The release of the Jurassic World Evolution 2 Park Managers Collection Pack DLC has added to the recent Jurassic Park/World hype for me. I rewatched the final season of Camp Cretaceous on Netflix ready for the Chaos Theory series to start later this month. We also had Frontier confirm that they are working on Jurassic World Evolution 3, and of course, we got the Park Managers’ Collection Pack DLC for Jurassic World Evolution 2.
I wasn’t sure whether we would get another DLC pack but I’m not going to turn down more great additions to my parks. The name of the DLC Pack this time around makes it sound like the dinosaurs we get are ones that are highly anticipated by the community however, I can only see one that was heavily pushed for by the community and if anything is the headliner of this pack.
What’s New
Included in the Jurassic World Evolution 2 Park Managers Collection Pack are the four below with an additional skin for a fan favourite dinosaur.
Megalodon – The one that fans of the game have been waiting for ever since they gave us lagoons to play with. This apex predator ruled the oceans for over thirteen million years. Its bite was five times stronger than a T.Rex. It is also the largest shark that has ever been discovered and was a killing machine.
The Megalodon is a fantastic addition to the lagoon dinosaurs and because we got new decorations in the Update 10 patch that came out alongside Jurassic World Evolution 2 Park Managers Collection Pack there are new ways to decorate your lagoons to truly show off this dinosaur in its natural habitat. I love the fact that we got the Megalodon as the Lagoons continue to get love with every update and I do enjoy using the lagoon viewing platforms to marvel at this colossal hunter.
Microceratus – The only herbivore in this pack, is this small ceratopsid from the Late Cretaceous period. It loves to live in large groups and has a distinctive frill which probably contributed to the name meaning ‘Small-Horned’. It was able to move incredibly fast and used its agility and speed to avoid predators. Putting Microceratus on display in my park was a challenge as if I make busy enclosures you don’t get to see the dinosaur much due to its size.
Don’t get me wrong, when there are lots of them running around you are bound to catch sight of one or two, but they do tend to go missing when you are looking through the first-person view and viewing platforms. If you make their enclosures bare, then you do get to see these lovely dinosaurs for all their wonder, but I do make their enclosure look dull so unfortunately this one does suffer from being small and getting lost in the long grass and brush. When you do get to see them though they are amazing.
Segisaurus – I think this dinosaur has been anticipated for a while after there were some sound files found in the game. This small therapod lived in the Early Jurassic period. It had long arms and powerful legs for its size, it relied heavily on these as it used speed and cunning to hunt its prey. Like the Microceratus it is a great addition but is very hard to see due to its size. Making enclosures that are both beautiful but allow for the player and guests to see this dinosaur is quite difficult.
You can go down the bare route and go for a minimalistic approach when making this dinosaur enclosure, but I prefer to make visually pleasing homes for my dinosaurs which is tricky when you have smaller dinosaurs as you tend to only see them when they are drinking water or feeding from the feeders.
Thanatosdrakon – Known as the ‘dragon of death’ this giant Pterosaur ruled over the prehistoric skies of South America during the Late Cretaceous. It had a huge wingspan of around 30ft and was a force to be reckoned with. It is a fantastic flyer to add to the game and one that shows just how enormous these dinosaurs got. Your guests will marvel at this addition when put on display in your parks.
We ever get a new skin for the T.Rex. The design is based on Little Eatie from DreamWorks Animation’s hit series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. It didn’t make much sense as to why this skin wasn’t added in that DLC pack, seeing as we have had a Camp Cretaceous pack in the past that it could have come in, but I wasn’t going to complain as I do like this skin and Little Eatie as a character. I mean you can’t get more iconic than a T.Rex when it comes to the Jurassic franchise, so another skin is highly welcomed, at least by me.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 Park Managers Collection Pack offers a bit of everything. We get a lagoon, aviary, herbivore, and carnivore which is neat. The only bugbear I have is that the two land-dwelling dinosaurs are both small in size. It would have been nice to have one small and one big but in all honesty, I love the Microceratus and Segisaurus.
They have brilliant interactions and I love watching the Segisaurus try and take down a goat. Microceratus has some nice skins but as mentioned earlier, I do believe that the start of the show is Megalodon. The Thanatosdrakon is amazing, and I love the aviary, I would have liked to have seen the Hatzegopteryx as the next big flyer but will happily settle for drakon.
Conclusion
For the asking price of £5.99, you can’t go wrong with Jurassic World Evolution 2 Park Managers Collection Pack that Frontier has brought to Jurassic World Evolution 2. The Megalodon has been a fan favourite for a long time so it’s fantastic that we finally have it in our parks. The Thanatosdrakon is a brilliant flyer and one that you and quests can marvel at for a long time. I love its animation when it kills the goat.
With the addition of two new small fries (Microceratus and Segisaurus), it rounds off the Jurassic World Evolution 2 Park Managers Collection Pack nicely and provides players with more dinosaurs to show off in our parks and watch for hours on end.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 Park Managers Collection Pack isn’t my favourite, but it is a nice middle ground and if you are a fan of this franchise and love to have all the new DLC packs you won’t want to skip out on this one. Jurassic World Evolution 2 Park Managers Collection Pack get a score of 7 out of 10 for being a good addition to the DLC packs that we have and for furthering our roster of fantastic dinosaurs we can have on display at our parks.
