Konami has announced the ‘28th Anniversary’ celebration, lasting between 29th June – 27th July. This will include a series of various campaigns, giveaways, and challenges which users can make the most of!
28 Years of KONAMI football gaming
December 22nd, 1995: The release of ‘Goal Storm’, the first title from KONAMI that brought the globe’s most popular sport into the virtual world.
Since then, there has been a series of evolutions to the game in both its mechanics and branding. KONAMI moved from Goal Rush it into International Superstar Soccer (1997 – 2001), then to Pro Evolution Soccer (2001 – 2021), before taking the bold step towards the current free-to-play title: ‘eFootball’.
Co-op returns with rewards!
After its Beta Test conducted between 8th – 22nd June, Co-op mode will again return on 29th June, meaning users can once again link up online and take on fellow users from around the world.
An in-game campaign related to Co-op will start on 13th July. Play a certain number of games and there will be some rewards in store too!
Campaign: Challenges galore!
Throughout the celebration period, there will be a number of challenges for users to compete in and earn some serious prizes.

The ‘eFootball’ journey so far
‘eFootball’ signified KONAMI’s desire to modernise and evolve to meet the desires of the modern gamer. Switching from an annual release model, ‘eFootball’ would become an ever-evolving platform that democratised football gaming by becoming free-to-play.
Since the launch of v.1.0.0 back in April 2022, ‘eFootball’ has made many steps to evolve and adapt, bringing fresh content to its users continuously.
Throughout the ‘eFootball’ series, community feedback has been taken into consideration with its gameplay updates helping to evolve aspects from dribbling and ball control, to passing, to off-the-ball player movements.

‘eFootball’ also saw a series of new card types including Big Time, Show Time, and Epic. These allowed users to create specialised Dream Team squads with their favourite current and former players.
Add to this the movement from 7 to 12 substitutes available (added in v.2.6.0) and the creation of users’ fantasy teams has never been easier and more accessible.
The recent Beta test for Co-op mode has also diversified the game mode offerings to users, once again, enhancing the ‘eFootball™’ experience for gamers of a variety of preferences.
