We’re almost halfway through the year, and we’re excited to see what else 2022 has to offer. Total War: Warhammer 3 and the long-awaited, long-memed Elden Ring were among the many big new PC games released at the start of the year. However, major games aren’t the only reason to be excited in 2022 as a PC gamer.
It’s true, some of the most anticipated games of this year are ones we were looking forward to playing last year. Because of the fact that big developers would be working from home for the majority of 2020 and 2021, last year was totally loaded with opportunities.
Now that major game delays have become so prevalent, the coming year may play out in a similar manner. We’ll keep this list up to current if release dates shift later in the year or, inevitably, into 2023, to help you keep track of what you’ll be playing this year.
But don’t be discouraged. In the year 2022, a slew of new games will be released. Because not all of them have release dates yet, our TBA area is chock-full of amazing games that haven’t yet been given a firm release date for this year. Keep checking back to ensure you don’t miss out on any of the year’s lesser-known treasures sandwiched between the big names.
Dune: Spice Wars – April 26
A sci-fi real-time strategy game with 4X components set in the Dune universe created by Frank Herbert. Dune: Spice Wars is a game produced by the same people who brought you Northgard, and it pits you against various groups for control of the desert planet Arrakis.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – September 13
Fatshark is expanding its horizons with a new ‘-tide’ game set in the bleak universe of Warhammer 40k. The co-op first-person shooter model appears to be on fire, and with heavy melee gameplay returning—chainswords in hand—and a new cast of four, this might be the pinnacle of games to get your party into in 2022.
Saints Row – August 23
With four new young and humorous heroes, Volition is restarting its quirky action series. As the new Boss, you and four companions establish a criminal empire in the Santo Ileso, which is based on the American southwest. The new Saints Row aims to be of its time, with a modern plot featuring feisty young people, leaving the old Boss behind.
Gotham Knights – October 25
In this departure from the Arkhamverse timeline, four members of the Bat Family keep an eye on Gotham while Batman is away. As Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood, you’ll take on the great bads of the Court of Owls in single or two-player co-op.
Starfield – November 11
Bethesda Game Studios’ new series in years is traveling into space. We were hoping for more than “Skyrim in space,” but Todd Howard has confirmed that it is Skyrim in space in certain aspects. In the Settled Systems, we may expect a lot of exploration, as well as perilous spaceflight and multiple factions.
Company of Heroes 3 – 2022
The next installment in Relic’s World War II real-time strategy game, set in Italy and North Africa, now incorporates a turn-based campaign. Other new elements, such as a single-player tactical pause system and dynamic cover, which changes the type and location of cover when destroyed, are both fascinating and welcome.
Kerbal Space Program 2 – 2022
In the second half of 2022, the Kerbonauts’ amusing escapades in creating a space program will be resumed. You’ll be able to establish colonies, develop interplanetary transport, and continue to dramatically blow countless spacecraft in front of the Kerbal people.
System Shock – 2022
Shodan returns as a neon-drenched recreation of the iconic first-person shooter. Onboard the orbiting research station, you’ll awaken from a coma and face swarms of mutants and cyborgs manufactured by the deadly station-AI. The cyberpunk pedigree of System Shock is unrivaled, and we’re hopeful this will live up to it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 – 2022?
Baldur’s Gate is returning, and it’s now in the hands of the creators of Divinity: Original Sin. Prior to the formal launch, Larian has already released the first section of the game in early access, introducing new features and classes. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a quirky, anything-goes take on digital D&D, similar to D:OS.
Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 – 2022?
The sequel to this RPG set in the World of Darkness has been repeatedly postponed and entrusted to a mysterious new developer. We don’t know if it’ll be released in 2022 or not, but we’re still hoping for some fantastic vampire sandbox action set in Seattle.
While all these games are set to be released this year delays might happen, and while we wait there are tons of unique alternatives to play like, Vampire Survivors, online slots, etc.
