Over here at Invision Gaming Community (IGC) we’ve reviewed a tonne of peripherals throughout the years but bags like this, not so much. So why did we pick up the Peak Design 3L Everyday Sling Bag, well we thought it would be great for Nintendo Switch Owners, so here is our review of a BAG.
Peak Design’s 3L Everyday Sling Bag is a lightweight, portable camera bag that is perfect for using with a Nintendo Switch. As we’re gamers over here, this is great news for us since lugging around a Switch with no cover or carrying case will make it far more susceptible to damage. This is where the 3L Everyday Sling Bag comes in and honestly, it is a perfect match for Nintendo’s handheld console. Of course, there are plenty of carrying cases out there, and we have reviewed a number of them here, including Pokémon one’s and Zelda Type one’s, but nothing like a sling bag.
First up are the bag’s specifications. The 3L Everyday Sling is the smallest in the Peak Design Everyday line of bags. The Everyday line is aimed at creative consumers that would like a premium bag for daily usage. This includes photographers and gamers such as us. Since the bag is so lightweight, it’s great for carrying with you on your daily commute.
While 3L might be considered small by some, it is actually just the right size for a Nintendo Switch to fit into the bag with the JoyCons removed. The JoyCons can slot into some handy pockets within the bag’s main compartment and there’s plenty of space for additional items to be placed in the bag too. The 3L Everyday Sling also has 2 cord hook external carry straps for additional carrying purposes. If you own a Nintendo Switch lite, this also fit comfortably inside the case, and you also have room for other products like earbuds, games etc.
The bag’s main compartment features a “FlexFold” divider which uses origami-inspired design to create divisions within the compartment. It’s a pretty clever way of organising your items within the bag’s main compartment and can be used to keep the switch separated from other items that may damage its screen. Peak Design have larger versions of the bag available but all 3 in the Everyday line feature the FlexFold and this is great for consumers since it really is such a nifty innovation.
The bag itself is made from 100% recycled post-consumer material with a rather tough 400D double poly-coated Durable Water Repellent impregnated nylon canvas shell. It is available in 3 colours and the 3L Everyday Sling features a high visibility grey nylon interior with 2 interior and 1 exterior compartment for storage. These compartments are safely closed with “UltraZips” which seem like they’ll last a really long time.
The 3L Everyday Sling is the lightest in the Everyday line of bags and only weighs 0.55kg. This really is perfect for carrying around everyday since uses can wear it on their hip or as sling and not feel bogged down at all. Even with the Nintendo Switch tucked away inside the bag, it’s still quite light.
The ultrazips on the bag can be pulled to one side and can be placed into a loop which then allows you to easily lock the bag with a travel lock. Pretty great if you’re going to be using public transport and want to keep pickpockets out of your bag.
The clasp on the bag’s strap seems as if it’s slightly weak though and may break over time if you are continuously opening and closing it, I must wonder what muppet designed it and it really needs to be looked at again. Thankfully you can easily swap this out for a standard carabiner should you want something stronger in its place.
You can purchase the Peak Design Everyday Sling Bag here for £61.00
