Supreme League of Patriots is a Point and click comedy adventure game that was created by a company called No Bull Intentions. The game follows the main character super hero ‘Purple Patriot’ as he and his side kick play their way through a television game show towards the semi-finals.
Gameplay
When playing through the game you play as the character called Kyle Keever, who is a would-be actor that is auditioning for a reality television show called ‘America’s Got Superpowers’. You are also accompanied on your travels by a sarcastic British man called Mel, he is not a great addition to the game as he is pretty useless, but on the up side, he does make you chuckle on times.
The game itself consists of you running through different areas of Kyle’s home town, New York and completing complicated puzzles in offices, apartment buildings and on the city streets. Finding hidden objects and choosing the right action in the correct order, as well as talking to different people and getting the right reaction each time are some of the puzzles you will come across during the game. Players are required to complete these just to pass through to the next level.
The controls of the game are very easy to use with it being a point and click game. A nice feature is your current goals; these appear when you hover over the top right hand corner of the screen and help you find where in the storyline you are by noting present task. True to the point and click genre there are many different objects that you can interact with. These objects are utilized to progress through the game and once discovered can be picked up or used as required. The key is to examine all areas as best as you can and figure out the next part of the puzzle, whether to take, use or examine the item or you may get stuck in the same area for a long time. On trying to take specific items your rude side kick likes to give you a very sarcastic insult which brings a fun and playful feature to the overall atmosphere of the game.
The dialog of the game can sometimes be too long winded but you have options to click on the screen that will skip it but if you do this you may miss an important hint on the specific mission. The voices are very good and suit the characters with the British man being very smug and up himself and the American guy being your standard American. These voices bring out the game and are dead on the point. There are parts of the game that some people may love, but others may find it incredibly offensive. When playing through the game you will be fighting anybody who is not a heterosexual, these can include immigrants, hippies and many more other minorities groups. This could be taken the wrong way by some people, to those I suggest to proceed with caution. While it is meant to make people laugh, it could leave sensitive people feeling slighted with the game. It may be done well if they follow the path like South Park has which turns all racism and homophobe into comedy.
Environments and details
The environment and characters in the game are very cartoon-like in style bordering a comic like splendour. The simple designs are typical to a point-and-click comical game, and the bold, vibrantly colourful two dimensional art best suits this genre.
The characters have been created to make you laugh. With a wannabe actor dressed as a superhero in purple spandex, coupled with a very stereo-typical English guy dressed in a traditional English flat hat and pipe; it is evident that No Bull Intentions are aiming to get a reaction out of you. If the comedy duo doesn’t, the crude reference to minority groups will…
Puzzles and Maps
Puzzles and missions can be in different areas around New York such as apartment buildings, a Theatre and office buildings. When going through the game you are compelled to examine different objects, use the ones you have collected and take items. These are the key features to completing the challenges but some are harder than others to work out. Some could include you having to examine a box, take the box then use the item found in the box to use as the key item for the current mission. This is one of many puzzles that you will have to run through.
Conclusion
The Game is fun and enjoyable with funny dialogs. The puzzles in the game and the item finding can be difficult at some points but are easily worked out when you put your mind to it. There are a few parts of the game where you must fight enemies like hippies and immigrants, a lot of people will find this really funny, but can be found really offensive to others. If pushed in the right direction like South Park which has turned all the offensive disgust into humour this game could be a hilarious hit. Mechanics are really user friendly and is really simple to use and interact with. This game is really enjoyable and worth taking a look at.
