The Duelist is one of the most popular choices of class thanks to these builds.
For Path of Exile players that prefer to take a melee route to attacking, the Duelist is a fantastic choice to go with. This class can get up close and personal effectively, whilst also being proficient in a ranged approach too. A well-balanced class is probably the best way for us to describe the Duelist, and there’s a few choices of builds that you should be investing your PoE currency into.
Split Arrow Gladiator
For a build that is efficient in bleed, the Split Arrow Gladiator is the choice to go with. You’ll be causing fatal wounds to those who stand before you in a potent mix of heavy physical and bleed damage. The fact that it is capable of very fast clear speeds is just another bonus to this build when working through endgame maps. It can also hold its own pretty well against bosses. When used with the skill gem known as Puncture, you’ll be a real force.
The emphasis on bleed damage will free up the chance to make the most of dodging as well. With bosses taking additional damage as they chase you with bleed damage, it can help towards your survivability in these situations. It won’t cost too much either to make this build, so go for it if you’re on a strict budget.
Ground Slam Impaler
If you have already been doing some research into the Duelist and what it has to offer in terms of builds, you may have come across this name before. The Ground Slam Impaler is considered by many as one of the very best Duelist builds in the game. The sheer amount of damage that it causes is always going to be attractive to players, and this is further enhanced by the gems that come with it.
The use of Ground Slam, Impale, and Shattering Steel to get Call of Steel, it will increase the damage even more. Added impales can be introduced thanks to the skill node that’s used on enemies around you. The fact that there is a time penalty of a few seconds for impaling isn’t really relevant, since you can kill most enemies in one hit.
It’s status as a build that can one-shot the majority of foes that stand in its wake means that it also has very effective survivability. The useful damage output gives you opportunity to focus more on your defence, making this a great all-round build. There aren’t too many concerns about the cost either, so get yourself on PoE Trade if you’re looking for certain items to help make it.
Impale Earthshatter
We are going to be staying with the impale theme here with another one of the best Duelist builds. The Impale Earthshatter is another build that takes full advantage of the Impale support gem to inflict devastation on your opponents. The explosive Earthshatter will dish out damage to anything in your path, and mimics similar builds by using damage scaling Cry skills.
It’s worth noting at this point that this isn’t necessarily the best build for beginners. The reason being that it can be quite difficult for you to get used to, especially where the Cry skills are concerned. But when you do manage to get your head around these skills, you are looking at the best possible results from your attacks.
This shouldn’t put you off in terms of difficulty. It won’t take long to get used to, but it does have the necessary amount of challenging mechanics to keep your interest and entertainment whilst playing as the build. Overall, you’re looking at something that has a fantastic clear speed, powerful DPS against single-target, and will guide you through the endgame content smoothly. The Impale Earthshatter also offers a variety of different setups that you can use. Play around with your gear and you’ll soon find a build that is proficient in both attack and defence.
Players opting for the Duelist are rather spoilt for choice for good builds. There is a good opportunity for you to create a character build that will not only run down any enemies that dare to face you but will also help you to survive some of the toughest battles that the game can throw at you. Make the most of your Exalted Orb and other currencies, get some research in and sure enough you’ll be firing on all cylinders playing as the Duelist.
