Expanding its growing presence in esports, Thrustmaster has announced its official sponsorship of the Squadron Air-to-Air League, a fan-led organization that has quickly established itself as the world’s leading combat flight sim esports tournament.
SATAL is a multiplayer PvP competition pitting the best squads in DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) against each other. Squads fly and fight in either the 6v6 Diamond League or the 4v4 Gold League. The tournament is played over six months leading up to a final showdown for supremacy of the virtual skies in October. Matches will be streamed live every Saturday and Sunday at 1400z starting April 6, 2019.
“Following on from the success of previous years tournaments, having Thrustmaster join as an official sponsor of the league, and fueled by the tremendous prizes on offer by our sponsors we are more excited than ever to be kicking off the 2019 competition.” said Ryan ‘Moltar’ Charpentier, one of the founders of DCS World Events and SATAL.
Thrustmaster joins Heatblur and Eagle Dynamics (developers of DCS) to help make this year’s tournament the most successful in SATAL history. Thrustmaster will also be rewarding the winning squads with elite flight sim hardware including their elite TPR pedals and offering fan giveaways to the streaming audience.
“We strongly believe that SATAL is a major player in the future of flight sim esports, which is why we have gone all-in to support them,” explained Tim Gorham, US Marketing Manager for Thrustmaster. “These are the best virtual pilots in the world, so we want them to have the best gear!”
