Following on from the fantastic Cheque Giving Ceremony at EGX on the 20th September, where £23,680 was donated to 9 charities GamesAid once again calling for members to get their thinking caps on each week as to how they can help further the charity. GamesAid is encouraging you to choose a minute in your diary (say, 3:47pm every Tuesday) to think about what YOU can do to help. It’s only a moment out of your day but prompting a regular call to action from the thousands of supporters, even just for a moment will help increase the positive work that the industry does to support vital charities like Special Effect, The Clock Tower Sanctuary, Access Sport and many others.
“Over the last 10 years, GamesAid have raised £3.3 million for disadvantaged young people and children, which is an incredible 62p per minute,” said Matt Spall, GamesAid’s Chair. “Just 1 minute out of your day each week, could make all the difference! Imagine how many more people we could support if everyone did their #GamesAidMinute”.
If you’re looking for inspiration then look no further than the great work done by the many charities that GamesAid supports:
Your ideas, actions or initiatives could help Solving Kids Cancer, who support children and families affected by neuroblastoma, to develop new and innovative treatments and run public fundraising campaigns to raise the cost of travelling to access further treatments abroad.
This all helps further progress in therapy for charities like Autistica to continue to improve the lives of those affected by autism as well as children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions from Lifelites. Science-based apps and assistive technology would give them or those in hospices strategies to manage their disabilities. And even aid in opening new day centers and delivering innovative services to hold fundraising events and gaming sessions like Everyone Can.
Your support could help Access Sport to provide more frequent opportunities in sport for disadvantaged children to get involved and improve their health and well-being.
Charities like The Clock Tower Sanctuary to provide vital support for those who are in desperate need of a home, upskilling and getting a job. And even helping to prevent more vulnerable young people from becoming homeless.
My AFK who provides mobility equipment for the disabled and prepares students with learning disabilities for life after school through work experience programmes, education and training. Enabling charities like Accuro and Special Effect to provide a range of specialist services for children and young people and developing new technology for those with physical disabilities.
And even funds raised throughout the year could enable GamesAid to host more amazing charitable events like the Golf & Spa Day.
