Global Game Jam, Inc announced that Global Game Jam NEXT is now underway, running until the end of July. An initiative designed specifically to instruct educators in how to teach game design to students (age 12-17), Global Game Jam NEXT encourages budding talent and creativity, providing curriculum, lesson plans and projects they can apply in the classroom to hone students’ game design skills ahead of the jam. Now registered locations across the globe are participating in jams around a central theme with events running from one to five days long.
For their second year, GGJ NEXT is expecting to host 40 locations across 21 countries, and are hoping to get around 1,000 new students involved in the game jam experience.
“The Global Game Jam is about collaboration, creativity and unity, and we are excited that every year we are able to help instill these values in the upcoming generation of video game designers,” said Susan Gold, President of Global Game Jam, Inc. “We want to thank all of the educators that have participated in the program this year and look forward to hearing your stories and triumphs.”
GGJ NEXT is part of Global Game Jam, Inc., providing educational opportunities about game development and a yearly jam for young people aged 12-17. The event aims to bring together talented young people within their school and community through the support of local educators. It is a unique opportunity for students to learn new STEAM skills, and improve their creative thinking and exploration in a safe space.
