Pixel platformer Bard’s Gold will get its own physical port in the form of a USB cassette, reminiscent of ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 games.
Launching through Kickstarter, the campaign will fund a nostalgia-inducing USB cassette game, complete with a genuine cassette jewel case. A must-have for collectors, backers will also have the opportunity to receive their own exclusive copy once the campaign reaches its goal. The game will be compatible with Mac and Windows platforms for Bard’s Gold fans old and new to enjoy.
The developer of Bard’s Gold, Pixel Lantern has teamed with Huey Games for the project. The indie game studio has successfully handled cassette production of modern classics such as The Adventures of Woolley Mountain. This marks Huey Games’ fourth Kickstarter campaign of this nature, following a trio of successes working to bring other much-loved games to the USB cassette format.
Huey Games has a rich history when it comes to cassette games. One of its founders is Andrew Hewson, whose famous 1980s software house published hit titles on cassette including Uridium, Paradroid and Nebulus to name a few.
