The spooky season has finally hit Torchlight III with its newly added Gear ‘N’ Goblins update. So embrace the spooky spirit this Halloween with its brand new range of fort decorations while capturing the scariest of pet variations like the Midnight Cat, the Spooky Retriever and the Dragonling Spirit starting today. So prepare your bag of tricks or get ready for a mouthful of treats!
There’s a handful of fun new content being added this season and what better way to start it off with a brand new set of legendary gear. The Ancient Ember set, similar to the likes of the Arc-Powered or Skittering sets, follows the same concept for its abilities such as triggering a skill when hit or obtaining an active skill when equipped. It also comes with its more unique set of abilities namely the active skill, Imbue Relic which can fully charge the character’s relic energy while also resetting relic skill cooldowns. We can also obtain the two new legendary weapons the Lightning Baller and the Sword of the Lost Legion. These legendary items however are exclusively dropped from Fazeer’s Dun’djinn.
But speaking of Fazeer’s Dun’djinn, one new addition to Torchlight III’s end-game content loop de loop are two card affixes that changes the way the dungeon or player reacts. Starting from the negative effect Anchored, which disables the character’s ability to use movement skills and also removes the speed boost shrines. The other one, Essential, is essentially a positive effect that lets you obtain essences from monster and boss drops. Although this isn’t particularly a game-changing card effect, just having more lessens the strain of its repetitive cycle of dungeon crawling.
The game also saw some major changes, mainly, the ability to purchase Respectacles for 2500 coins from potion vendors. Being the major resource needed for skill building, this is a well-needed option especially for people just starting out. Contracts are also revamped with one of the most notable reward, the Legendary Gear Bundles which similar to The Division 2’s exotic cache, does what it sounds.
The bonus levels from gear and set bonuses also now applies to skills that are level 0 as well which means it’s now completely possible to see how a skill works without having to spend skill points to know whether you’ll like it or not. And the devs also made some changes to map sizes to Fazeer’s which depending on the objective could either be a good or a bad thing so that’s that…
