NetEase Games and Everstone Studio have officially launched Version 2.2 of Where Winds Meet globally, bringing the long-running Hidden Mountain storyline to its conclusion.
The latest update adds the final chapters of the Hidden Mountain narrative, two new story Campaigns, a new Wuxia-inspired extraction mode and two formidable World Bosses. Players can also take part in a selection of Mid-Autumn Festival events throughout September.
The Hidden Mountain Story Reaches Its Climax
Version 2.2 concludes the Hidden Mountain storyline with two final chapters, A Bitter Winter and Sea of Sunfire.
As the secret surrounding Black Gold creates further turmoil, players will join Grandmaster Swallow as they attempt to uncover the scheme behind Skyward City. The story also explores Elder Peng’s defining decision regarding the future of the Mohist Hill sect.
Players will also finally come face-to-face with Qianye, the mastermind behind the tragedy at Blissful Retreat. Qianye destroyed the protagonist’s home and stole their loved ones, making the confrontation a particularly personal one as the Hidden Mountain storyline reaches its conclusion.
Two New Campaigns
The update also introduces two new Campaigns, each offering a very different challenge.
Skyward City Ruins sees players riding a Wooden Eagle during a high-speed aerial pursuit through collapsing towers. The Campaign leads to a confrontation with former Grandmaster Halcyon while uncovering a long-buried chapter of Mohist history and her dedication to the principle of “benefiting the people.”
Final Direction takes players into a magnetics-driven battlefield for a high-stakes duel against Elder Peng. With gravitational forces constantly reversing, players must contend with an unusual battlefield while witnessing Elder Peng’s ultimate decision over whether the Mohist Hill sect should remain isolated or bring its mechanical arts into the wider world.
Transdust Ruins Adds a New Wuxia Extraction Mode
Coming on September 23, Transdust Ruins introduces an entirely new extraction experience to Where Winds Meet, combining the genre’s loot-and-extract gameplay with the game’s Wuxia martial arts.
Players can enter the dangerous desert environment alone or as part of a three-player squad, searching for valuable treasures while having to carefully consider their options due to the limited number of extraction slots.
Combat isn’t the only way to survive. Players can make use of martial arts and mystical abilities to outwit their opponents, with options including disguises, stealthy pickpocketing and Acupoint Strike, which can be used to paralyse enemies.
This means players can potentially steal valuable loot and escape without ever drawing a weapon, adding another layer of unpredictability to the PvPvE experience.
Two New World Bosses Arrive
Version 2.2 also expands the dangers lurking throughout Hidden Mountain with two new World Bosses.
Goshawk is a hammer-wielding warrior capable of unleashing powerful iron-flower attacks, while Golden Colossus Taicu is a gigantic mechanised titan that requires a different approach.
To defeat Golden Colossus Taicu, players must first destroy structures within the arena to break its seal. Once the opportunity presents itself, players can leap onto the massive machine itself and attack its core.
Mid-Autumn Festival Events
The September update also brings a selection of seasonal events celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival. Players can participate in the events to earn free Lingering Melody and Resonating Melody rewards.
With the Hidden Mountain storyline now reaching its conclusion, Version 2.2 gives Where Winds Meet players plenty of new content to explore, from the final chapters of the campaign and new boss encounters to the upcoming Transdust Ruins extraction mode.
