Officially titled RIFTSTORM, is a co-op looter-shooter that blends teamwork, build crafting, and roguelite progression in a world where secret organisations face threats most people will never even know exist. Made by Confiction Labs and Agate, it casts you as a Weaver — an elite operative working to investigate supernatural incidents, seal dangerous rifts, and take down the terrifying creatures pouring through them.
This isn’t just another run-and-gun shooter where you clear rooms and move on. Every mission revolves around your abilities, how you build your loadout, upgrades you find along the way, and that big question: how far do we push before getting out? You can play solo or team up with up to two friends for online co-op.
Riftstorm launched into Steam Early Access on 11 August 2026. The core experience is there and playable, but development is very much ongoing — the team wants to expand content, refine balance, and shape the game alongside player feedback.

Welcome to the Mythic Protocol Riftstorm
The world hides far more than we see. That’s where the Mythic Protocol Riftstorm comes in — a secret group dedicated to tracking, investigating, and containing things that shouldn’t exist. As a Weaver, you’re sent into danger zones to figure out what’s going on, close rifts, and stop whatever’s come through from spreading further.
It’s a mix of covert ops, cosmic mystery, and supernatural threats. Missions take you into hostile, shifting environments where rift activity and powerful enemies make every deployment feel like a real fight for survival. The story itself is still growing, too — the devs plan to add more briefings, character dialogue, and voice lines as Early Access continues, so the wider picture will unfold over time.

Pick Your Weaver, Shape How You Play
Your Weaver defines how you fight. Each one has unique abilities, strengths, and preferred weapons — so you don’t just pick a look, you pick a whole playstyle. At launch you’ve got five to choose from: Rook, Starling, Hertz, Botsy, and Caracal. Each brings something different to a squad, so who you team up with and how you combine your skills matters.
Weapons add another layer of choice — around 30 are available right now, with more planned. Then there are Lythograms — in-mission upgrades that can completely transform how your character works. You might start a run focused on one style and end it with a totally different, powerful build based on what you find.
That mix of character, gear, and unpredictable upgrades means no two runs feel the same. Even a familiar mission can play completely differently depending on who you pick, what you bring, and what bonuses you unlock along the way.

Team Up, Push Your Luck, Get Out
Up to three players can play together, or you can go solo if you prefer. You drop in, complete objectives, fight waves of enemies that get tougher as you go, collect loot — and then decide when to leave.
That call is central to the game. Go deeper and you might find amazing rewards… but stay too long and the risks pile up. Rift Exposure Zones make that choice extra sharp — dangerous areas with better loot but deadlier enemies and corruption. Go for broke, or play it safe with what you’ve got?
And if you don’t make it out? There are consequences. The Weapon Scarring System means your favourite gear can come back damaged — one of its mods gets replaced with a random negative effect. It’s not designed to be soul-crushing or punishing; it just adds real tension to that big decision: do we push further, or secure what we’ve earned?

Procedural Missions and Scaling Threats
No two deployments are identical. The game mixes hand-crafted missions with procedurally generated layouts, so you always need to adapt. You start at Threat Levels 1 and 2, with a clear onboarding campaign to learn the ropes. Higher Threat Levels are there for anyone ready for a stiffer challenge — though the devs note those are still being refined and balanced.
Early Access means things will shift as the game evolves. Enemy behaviour, difficulty curves, progression paths — all will be tuned and improved based on what players experience. That’s the point: the team can’t predict every strategy or interaction players will discover, so they’re building and adjusting alongside the community.

What’s Next?
Riftstorm is expected to stay in Early Access for roughly 18 to 24 months, though that timeline could shift as the game develops. Right now you’ve got the core experience — but plenty more is planned:
- Additional playable Weavers
- More weapons across all families
- New and reworked Mythic enemies
- Deeper progression for characters and Periapts
- More Lythograms and ongoing balance tweaks
- Expanded story content, dialogue, and voice acting
- A cosmetic system for your Weavers
- An evolving endgame Threat mode with changing conditions
- Better matchmaking, stability, performance, and accessibility
It’s available now on PC via Steam. Console versions haven’t been announced yet, so that’s something to watch for in future updates.

First Impressions: Promising, With Room to Grow
Riftstorm has a clear identity: fast co-op action, distinct characters, flexible builds, and genuine tension over when to cut and run. The supernatural setting stands out, and the Lythogram system means you’re constantly adapting and experimenting.
Early Access is just the beginning. More characters, weapons, enemies, progression, and story are all on the way, and how the game evolves will depend heavily on what players say and do. If you like co-op PvE shooters with roguelite flair, tactical choices, and a spooky, mysterious vibe — this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
