“BeatBlasters III” Is a rhythm/platformer game that was created by “Chainsawawesome games” A team of three people. It’s their first published game. Let’s see what they got.
Gameplay
“Chainsawawsome games” have gone and created a game that mixes Rhyme with fighting, when you begin the game you are ask to choose to play between two characters, them being Joey or Gina. Both characters share the same story and the same love for the music, but having their own separate tunes. Also having a super power that can be unleashed when hitting thirty hits on the recharge bar to keep your ability’s available. When playing in game, the only thing they share is the fighting style using an attacking power, a bubble shield and speed/jump boots. Both characters no matter who you choose must fight threw different levels fighting off evil monsters and people, to try and bring music back from the grouchy music hating “Butcher” who is in charge of many minions that are out to stop you and make your quest harder.
You start your travels with a short tutorial on how to play the game, once completed you get to move through the levels, But before every level you are given a choice of three difficulty options being Easy, Normal and insane. Insane is only available once you have completed the game (like normal games). When completing each level you are given stars, depending on how well you do on the level, being awarded with said stars can earn your attacking ability an upgrade, from three way balls to a splitter some better than others. If the levels are complete on insane mode you automatically get three stars for upgrades. There are four platforms that you must run through each with four different levels helping animals and people alike with their problems, from protecting your allies with a shield or to fighting away the enemy with beats and music. You think this is simple? Well “ChainsawAwsome games” have also added in so you can only have a certain amount of energy at a time with every ability just to give it that much more difficulty. When fighting you need to constantly remember to get your energy back by specifically timing your recharge beat for the specified ability, otherwise you are left helpless against your foes.
The worlds are very colourful and open minded almost on the verge of strange. But with each platform comes its own unique identity such as snow or city, each level within these platforms is based on the platforms identity “like a car in a city”. After every three levels you are faced with a boss. Each more difficult than the last, finding their weaknesses and strengths some not as obvious as other. These bosses are not easy but anything can be done with a good beat.
Mission types
There many different types of missions within” BeatBusters III” from protecting eggs from falling rocks, to fighting off pirates who are after your treasure, With each passing mission the difficulty gets more intense always watching to see if you ability’s are out of rhythm. All the bosses are different, clueless when you go against them you need to work out how to defeat them, whilst protecting other creatures or fighting off other monsters, “BeatBusters III” have gone all in on the wide verity of missions that you can play. When you die it gives you a tip on how to complete the level or beating a boss then either returning you to character select or retrying the mission.
Personal views and opinions
“Chainsawawsome games” have definitely put a lot of effort into this game to make sure that every level played is different to the rest, So that you don’t get bored and the backgrounds of each level are very creative that it gets a little confusing what is the game and what was the background on some levels. Some of the levels did not have enough information about what to do, so you’re getting stuck most of the time clueless about what you are doing wrong but eventually picking it up when exploring. The game itself is short and maybe could have been a little bit longer as it did not take long to complete both characters threw each of the platforms, but the insane mode really does feel insane with constant spawning of enemies and more objectives to protect, This mode will truly test your skills with the arts of rhythm and knowing when to recharge your abilities.
“BeatBlasters III” is a very fun game to play, you’re never doing the same thing constantly, but some of the levels, a very challenging game. Try and beat it if you think you have the rhythm for it. I give it 3/5.
