The world´s first science fiction-oriented MOBA game just won the Game Connection Awards. Shards of War by developer and publisher Bigpoint convinced the international jury in the category ‚Best Desktop & Downloadable‘.
“We feel honored and are happy to receive this accolade recognizing the Shards of War developer team´s hard work”, says Nina Müller, Director Live Games at Bigpoint. “Above all, everybody involved at Bigpoint is really happy about the daily feedback from MOBA and shooter fans, which reflects the jury´s vote. Our aim is to make Shards of War as much fun as possible for its growing fan base. Currently we are looking forward to the first ESL Cups in March, as well as to a huge number of new playable characters, new maps, and many other inventions and features.”
Shards of War will hold the first of many Community Cups in cooperation with the Electronic Sports League (ESL) on March 8. The action MOBA, which is still in the beta phase, was awarded in December with the German Developer Award, which is awarded once a year to the best games developed in Germany.
Shards of War challenges users in terms of team play, intelligent strategy, and character mastery in the multiplayer online battle arena. Two teams of five compete against each other in fast-paced, 20-minute matches, fighting for PvP dominance on the game map. Besides featuring a close-future scenario, unique to the MOBA genre are the classic top-down shooter controls (WASD) that provide action-packed PvP battles
