It’s not that often I get a chance to review a game on mobile, so this is actually my first, the game comes from the power house ‘KING’, who recently got swiped up by ‘Activision’. If you don’t know who ‘KING is then look no further then every Saga game on mobile from Candy Crush Saga to their newest title Blossom Blast Saga.
Back to the review of a game, a mobile game, the new game Blossom Blast Saga, going to be honest as I can, and say first and foremost, I do not, and have never been a fan or the franchise, I actually find them rather annoying and addictive. But as with any journalist, you do need to look at every game objectively and be honest, so you, the reader knows about the game and can make up your own mind, if it’s for you or not.
So Blossom Blast Saga follows the same mechanics as many Sega games coming from KING’s, line up of games, match them up, line them up and clear them. Gone is the candy, and as you might of guessed from the name of the game, welcome flowers. Task of the game is to grow your flower from a bud to a blossom and create a colourful chain reaction, as each flower bursts and is removed from the playing field.
I paid no attention at the start of the game, I don’t think I ever do with mobile games, unless they have an intro that I am interested, and it was not the second stage when I noticed that I was playing a bee, a bee that collects flowers, and once the flower blooms, the bee would earn nectar, which actually is the score. Depends on how well you bloom your flowers, how fast, how many and how well, will affect not only the score, but also the star rating. Being a perfectionist, if I was not getting 3 Stars, I would be restarting.
Blossom Blast Saga contains a few game modes these are
- Scoring Mode: link up, flowers, of the same type.
- Remove the Weeds Mode: link the flowers around a weed to kill off the weed.
- Big Bud Mode: sees a bud/s set of the field that needs to be removed, create a chain that leads to the bud, or bloom flowers around the bud to remove it, each bud has a countdown, once it reaches zero, the bud is no more and explodes.
- Collect Flower Mode: Bloom a set of flowers in a chain based on colour and sequence.
With over 100 stages to sink your time into, and 4 game modes, there is plenty to do, see, achieve and Blossom. If you have friends that enjoy KING games, then they, most likely, right now playing this game as well, and this will give you a chance to challenge your friends via the Leader-board, who is actually the best? Or do you and all your mates suck and your competitors are whooping your butt.
KING has followed the same mechanics all the time, it’s fun, addictive and brings in the mobile gamers to play their games. Are their games for everyone, of course not, is this a game I will play over and over again, of course not. This game has its own audience a growing audience a massive KING fan base to back it, it will do well regardless of the haters and the gamers that just play, just to see what its like, like me.
Keeping to the same mechanics found in all Saga games, is what makes the game great in its own right, I personally will not be playing it anymore, but I know why many mobile games do, and on that note, looking back at all the other Saga games, this game will be getting a 4.5/5 nothing is as good as the first Saga game, as without its success, where would this be?
