Creative England and Microsoft Ltd are today (26 September 2013) delighted to announce the launch of a brand new support programme, Greenshoots, to help independent game developers based in key regions of England* succeed in the mobile games industry.
Greenshoots is a programme jointly developed by Creative England and Microsoft Ltd to support early stage startup game studios with bringing new and exciting game titles to the Windows platforms. It is supported by the Government Regional Growth Fund (RGF) and will offer ten of England’s most innovative developers funding of up to £25,000 to support the development of new games for mobile and tablet platforms. While developing their title for Windows 8 or Windows Phone, the programme encourages developers to push their game out across all platforms.
The programme, which will also include workshops and business expertise from Microsoft, will help kick-start development of new IP and enable the companies to reach a global audience. As a further incentive, developers only pay back the investment when they are making money from the game.
