After 7 years we finally got confirmation on the new Diablo sequel that Blizzard is working on. Fans waited for this RPG game for a long time and Blizzard finally announced at the opening ceremony of this year BlizzCon fan expo event. They also announced a new release on Overwatch 2 which only added fuel to our excitement.
They did not provide us with much information, but in this article, we will go through some of the rumours, synopsis, release date and gameplay features that we can expect from Diablo 4.
What Can We Expect?
Well, for starters we saw rumors that seem to confirm Lilith return. This is the boss that we last saw in Diablo 2. We’ve seen a leaked passage that also confirms Lilith’s appearance in Diablo 4 and we can expect all different combat from the Mother of Deceit.
We are probably going to see a lot of characters that will return in Diablo 4 but they seem to appear different this time due to the new talented artists that get the hold of things as the art director John Mueller explained.
Character customization will also be available on the new Diablo 4. Similar to the World of Warcraft, players can now customize their character body, facial expressions and etc. Obviously, they wanted to offer players more options so they added mount customization, horseshoes, you are going to be able to equip new gear and try different kinds of armour in order to choose the right looks for you.
Obviously, the biggest change in Diablo 4 is the new classes and classes changes. They introduced 3 additional new classes to choose from with a teaser showing what each one of them is capable of.
- Druid
Again, similar to their other games such as WOW, this new class can summon animal companions to get help on the battlefield. They also have the ability to transform into a werewolf or a werebear which is called shapeshifting. This class is last seen in Diablo 2.
- Barbarian
This class went through some changes from the last Diablo 3. Even though they decided to keep some of the main abilities from the previous game, in Diablo 4 Barbarian turns into a master of any weapon you can get your hands on. They can equip different weapon builds at the same time giving you the advantage playing with two hands.
- Sorcerer/Sorceress
If you prefer to use a magic class, this is the way to go. This class uses massive blizzards to slow down enemies or weaken them. You can also use massive fireball rain that rains on your enemies. It can also transform into a ball of lighting and rush through enemies, faster than a horse that you have bet on to win a race. Basically, it is sort of a mimic of the Mage we’ve seen in the previous Diablo 3.
The long-awaited and promised PVP is back in Diablo 4. Some areas in the game will be safe and others will be PVP zones where players can take each other on if they want to. This will be an option, so if you want to stick to campaign and minion hunt you can do that.
Release date
Unfortunately, the release date is still unknown and we did see any confirmation from Blizzard. However, there are hints that Blizzard left which proves that this project is further than we taught.
They opened nine new positions at Blizzard for unannounced projects within the Diablo universe back in June this year. French publication “Le Monde” stated that Diablo 4 was already presented to employees, but the official release date will not happen before 2020.
From what we know, Blizzard is not that strict about release dates. The previous Diablo 3 was announced back in 2008, but the release happened in 2012.
We are excited about this new announce from Blizzard and hope to see it in the distant future, even though our bet is placed that they are going to release it in the first quarter of 2020.
