Chris Cook, 34 from Birmingham achieved the Guinness World Records title for ‘Longest Marathon for a Sports Videogame (FIFA 15)’, playing for an incredible 48hr,49min,41 seconds at the Loading Bar gaming cafe in Dalston, London.
The epic football marathon was in aid of the gamer’s charity Special Effect (www.specialeffect.org.uk) and inspired him to keep going through numb fingers, tired eyes and grating commentary!
The Guinness World Records 2016 Gamer’s Edition has dedicated spreads on both FIFA and its classic rival Pro-Evolution Soccer, revealing the stats, facts and records behind the game.
They include the Highest Score on FIFA Street where Andrew Mee (UK) managed 222,774 points, the Highest Earning FIFA videogame player is Ivan “BorasLegend” Lapanje (Sweden) who earned an incredible $145,378.56 and Shawn Alvarez (USA) achieved Most Consecutive Cross Bar Hits in one minute in FIFA 14, scoring 4 times.
FIFA’s series sales are now topping 146.13 million with Pro Evolution Soccer totaling 65.97 million. FIFA’s fantasy mode Ultimate Team is its most popular, with 21,849,017 recorded Ultimate team players between FIFA 09 to FIFA 14!
The PES League is on one of the worlds largest virtual sports tournaments and over 4000 gamers took part in the 2015 tournament.
