Fans have had to endure a string of rather disappointing big releases that had a lot of hype behind them – Battlefield 2042 has slumped so far as to only attract a few thousand players per day on Steam and by all accounts is a failed release, and despite the efforts put into the revival of Cyberpunk following its poor release, it’s still getting mixed responses. There have been a large number of games succeeding during this same period of time particularly on mobile as options at casinosuden.com amongst others have thrived, but with big releases coming once more, fans were hopeful of a well delivered AAA title.
FromSoftware’s latest title of Elden Ring was certainly up there as one of the more anticipated releases – the Souls games that have come before still remain fan favorites and with a more open world approach for this latest game, it certainly deviated from the approach of others, but has it been deemed successful?
For most metrics, the release of the game went just about as well as could be hoped for with only a few teething issues most notably with performance – some framerate drops and stutters alongside random game closures even on high end systems led to mixed reviews initially, but patches have been rolling out to resolve this and are getting better over time. There have also been some complaints that the two early bosses in Margit and Godrick were perhaps a little too difficult, especially for newcomers, but this may be due to those misunderstanding the start of the game being very open for exploration and needing a bit of time to gain some levels before tackling these challenges. Of course, the veterans of the series will be able to run right in and not have a problem, as with other souls’ games.
Other than the initial teething issues, the game has been well praised for an extremely exciting future for the games if the open world path is to be fulfilled, with exciting fights, lots of customization with weapons, armor, and abilities too. With the game running an estimated average of 45 hours, or for those on the more completionism end of the scale looking perhaps more to around 100 hours, it’s another vast game with plenty of playtime to be discovered, and plenty of secrets within the game that are stilled to be unveiled and shown for unique items and unique stories too.
