Excel Esports, Britain’s top esports organisation, has announced that Joran “Special” Scheffer has been promoted to the starting Mid Laner spot on its League of Legends Championship (LEC) roster.
- Special joins from the organisation’s academy team, BT Excel, where he showed an exceptional performance to earn his spot on the biggest stage in European League of Legends.
- BT Excel was a dominant force in the UKLC Spring Split by going undefeated in the regular season with a 14-0 win record and narrowly missing out in taking home the trophy in the Grand Finals.
- Special was at the front and centre of BT Excel’s miracle run during the EU Masters which saw them win four games in a row to secure a playoffs spot. Despite being able to move onto the next stage, BT Excel cemented their place as a leading team in UK esports.
- The 22-year-old Dutch player started his esports journey in 2015. Since then he has played for some of the biggest teams in Europe including the likes of Giants Gaming, Fnatic, Misfits Gaming and now Excel Esports.
- Excel Esports heads into the Summer Split in a strong position after dramatically improving their performance from 2019 with a 7-11 finish, which was just two games behind their entire win total from last year.
- Special will join the rest of Excel Esports when they return for the LEC Summer Split on June 12th.
