The world Best wireless gaming mouse?
I have reviewed so many mice, over the past 4 years, I can almost say what is what and what I recommend and why, now another mouse enters the gaming arena from Logitech, the new G900 Chaos Spectrum Wireless Gaming Mouse.
Toting to be the best wireless mouse in the gaming arena, is it though I have the Steelseries Sensei Wireless, the Razer Orochi and the Razer Nega Epic Wireles, all of them work, work great and feel great under the hand, but sometimes, they do not have the fastest connection from the mouse to the receiver and this can cause input lag.
They also have their issues, the Steelseries Sensei is not a mobile friendly, thanks to its huge/heavy charger base unit, the Razer Orochi, is small and unique and will not be perfect for everyone, people with giant hands, would not like this mouse at all. Finally the Razer Naga Epic Wireless, is best suited to MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) gaming, due to the amount of buttons.
The G900 however, boasts many benefits, not only is the wireless connection perfect at all times, it also has Logitech’s best sensor and the build quality makes this mouse super light.
THIS IS WHERE IT STARTS
From the get go, Logitech, showcases the mouse in all its glory, making sure you know that this is a Professional Grade wired/wireless Gaming Mouse.
The Mouse is sold within a textured box surrounded by a Sleeth, on the back comes with the mouses main selling points.
1ms – Ultra-quick 1 millisecond wired or wireless report rate and 107g lightweight body deliver incredible responsiveness for competitive-level twitch targeting.
3366 – High-accuracy optical sensor with exclusive battery-saving clock tuning technology delivers upto 32 hours of non-stop, pixel-precise gaming on a single charge.
L <-> R –Ambidextrous design with customizable physical button layout for left – or –right handed use. Use Logitech Gaming Software to program custom button macros and lighting profiles.
THE G900 CHAOS SPECTRUM
Removing the Sleeth, revealing the box, textured and special, you do feel like you getting something nice here. Opening the box, the mouse itself, is throned, positioned center and looks outstanding. Dethroning the mouse and pulling away a cardboard section reveal a basic instruction manual, under that a braided cable, wrapped around, a plastic center. Finally dead center a small box, inside the small box sits, the USB receiver, extender, buttons G6/ G7 and one block off.
Everything about the marketing of this product screams Quality, Profressional, a grade of product well worth its asking price.
GAMING IS WHERE IT SHALL BE
There are plenty of mice on the market as you read from the start, so does this one offer anything special? How about the magnetized side buttons, yep your head that’s right, Magnetized, this allows for quick removal and replacement, something none of my other mice offer.
Now you might be thinking so what, and you might be right, think like this though, maybe you do not like thumb buttons? Remove them and replace them with the block, maybe you want more buttons on the left hand side? Remove the block and add G6 and G7. I have tried this, and for a right handed gamer, it does take some time to get used to. This might be the same for a left handed user.
The mouse wheel is the next, never had a mouse wheel, that, can just free rotate, this one does, it’s all hollow ‘spoked’ and Logitech called it the Hyperscroll wheel design. There is a button above the mouse wheel, which when pressed removes the non free rotate function and bring back what all mice have a click effect, which we are all use to seeing. This mouse wheel acts as three buttons, side to side left and middle click.
There was one little issue, which only I found, maybe due to the fact that I have used loads of other mice, the scroll wheel required a little more pressure to press down.
Everything about this mouse has been designed and manufactured to to give us gamers a super light constructed mouse, while maintaining stability, with a maximum weight of 107g
Above the mouse button, are two DPI adjustment buttons, these can be used exclusively for controlling the DPI or head into the Logitech software and set them up to do something else.
Then you have the 16.8 million colour variations which can all be controlled with the Logitech software. Two lighting zones can be altered and controlled, The G logo and the 3 DPI lights.
Ever heard of a Mechanical Pivot Button Design? I have not, till now. Well, these are both built into the left and right trigger mouse buttons. This is what Logitech class this as, A metal spring tensioning system and metal pivot hinges, to give the trigger buttons a crisp, clean click feel with rapid lick feedback.
This system helps reduce the pre-travel distance between buttons and switches while also reducing the force required to click — enabling faster recovery after each click. In addition, this system helps ensure a lower, more consistent and predictable click force from click to click
There is a total of 11 programmable buttons all can be controlled via the software you will be installing.
The ultimate part of this mouse is the gaming grade sensor the PMW3366, with its DPI range from 200 – 12000, which ultimately gives pixel-precise performance.
Looking at my RAZER Chroma and the G900 they almost look similar, of coarse the Chroma has more buttons, and the Logitech is slightly bigger, other than that they feel and how I hold them both is exactly the same.
Looking at software, just a quick overview, you can control the spectrum of colours, polling Hz, DPI and much more.
GAMING WIRELESS IS THE SAME AS WIRED? CAN IT BE?
Going wireless or wired is totally down to you, as there is no input lag, regardless of what you choose to use, you get a braided cable which make it’s a perfect wired option, flexible and tangle free.
This is what you get, when you use this mouse, I played games such as The Division, Ubisofts news FPS/MMO shooter and there was no lag, from button push to action on screen, even through the mouse feels little too big under hand, I was quickly able to adapt it to my liking. I also played DOOM, Bethesdas no Hellish bad boy, and again the mouse out performed at every level.
I use the mouse with a SteelSeries DEX mouse mat, and the mouse performed very well, and thanks to the software I was able to calibrate the mouse to work perfectly on it.
Using the software I was able to create functions and macros to make the games easier and more convenient, something which is not possible on console.
The software is so easy to use and understand there is no need for me to go into details, it’s all self explanatory and I really don’t wish to bore you here, which more waffle.
