I am getting to love my Nintendo Switch as each month rolls by with games like Cities: Skylines, but missing all the DLC,
Now come on Paradox make an announcement and bring all the DLC to the platform
Wastelands 2, what an amazing game, Divinity Original Sin 2 also coming to the system, then we have Starlink from Ubisoft just around the corner, Smash Bros Ultimate, Diablo 3, Dark Souls Remastered and we all know there is a new Zelda on the way, Pikmin, Metroid, Mario Kart and a Mario adventure game, not forgetting Luigi Mansion 3 and I almost forgot Doom 2. I know Japan already have Resident Evil 7 and soon Assassin Creed Odyssey via there streaming platform, but what a crock of crap that is. A streaming service takes away from the idea of being able to play anywhere at any time. Can you imagine playing a streamed based game on our trains or on our streets, hotels, B&B it would be, total rubbish.
But let’s get back on track how much do you love Zelda? are you like me and have purchased every Zelda game ever made, completed every Zelda game ever made, but don’t seem to collect much Zelda merchandise due to the costs involved, we all know Nintendo Hype up there price for official merchandise. So when I got the chance to get hold of a Zelda inspired Nintendo Switch case, I was on it like beans on toast.
I do have a few cases all have their merits and all have their improvement ideas, could the Zelda case be the one that hits all the highs let’s find out.
Now just look at the design, pure Zelda inspired and any Zelda fan would be happy if they got this case. The actual design is taken from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the sheikah slate, even when you turn the sheikah slate on in the game, you get the design that is on the back of the case. The overall design of the case from an external view is good, it even feels solid in construction and your precious switch should be safe and sound while inside, even if it does take a tumble. The case does come with a hard EVA shell, protective cushioning layers, and a heavy-duty zipper.
Before we take a look inside you should take note that the case has a handy handle, so you can carry around your switch with ease. I have pulled it a lot just to test its durability and protection from theft, just in case some douche bag runs past you and tries to steal it from you, the handle did not break, so just hold the case with a good grip. The Zip has a nice design as well, running with the Zelda theme, check out the image below.
Now we take a delve inside, at the bottom of the case you can store your Nintendo Switch, which is strapped down with elastic and velcro. The switch is pretty much safe and sound while strapped down and you do not need to worry about the screen getting scratched if you are gullible enough not to have a screen protector already on the machine. You can store up to 22 Game Cartridges, even though they do say 29 + 2 Micro SD Cards with there adaptors. The only way to hold over 22 games would be to have them loose.
At the top of the case, there is a mesh compartment which allows you to store a number of items. I was able to store a charger with a cable and earphones, there was plenty more room for maybe a second set of Joy-Cons if you wish to carry more than the set attached to your switch already. If I would consider carrying much more than that, I simply do not know, as I do not see much point however sometimes I do carry around the Joy-Con Adapter when I play my switch on a stand while away from the TV.
Now there can be improvements made to the overall sale of this product, as I said with the Mario case, a screen protector would be great as the official cases from Nintendo always come with one, even though they do not say they do, its a little surprise. Then the case is lacking its own kickstand for the Switch when playing on the go with the joy-con adapter, which is a shame as this case has a great design and has a lot going for it
Overall I would say Zelda fans will love the case, even Nintendo Fans, It lacks some features that I feel would make it even better but for a case, it is one of the best I have seen personally.
