Path of Exile 2 is kicking off its biggest update yet this weekend with The Last of the Druids, introducing a devastating new shapeshifting class, a fully customisable dungeon-building league, and a brand-new endgame Pinnacle boss. Players can jump into the entire campaign for free from December 12 at 8PM until December 15 at 8PM CET across PC, Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store.

Druid Class Revealed – Shift, Roar, Destroy
The long-awaited Druid arrives with three ferocious forms and a suite of new elemental abilities powered by ancient Draiocht Talismans. Players can transform into:
- Wolf – Freeze enemies in place and command a ruthless pack.
- Bear – Build Rage and become an unstoppable tank that mauls everything.
- Wyvern – Take to the skies, raining lightning, fire, and airborne devastation.
In human form, the Druid unleashes erupting volcanoes, raging storms, and constricting roots, supported by the new Spell Totem skill to empower a range of caster builds.
Druid Ascendancies
Players can specialise further with one of two Ascendancies:
- The Shaman – Converts Rage into raw elemental carnage, wields ancient Runes and Idols for deeper customisation, and summons multi-element storms through the Bringer of the Apocalypse.
- The Oracle – Manipulates time using Foresight, predicting enemy attacks to boost skill damage, and gains access to over 130 new passives including Self-Sacrificing and Corruption Endures.
Massive Balance Pass & Build Diversity Boost
The update includes more than 30 new Support Gems—featuring several new Lineage options—alongside 11 Unique items and a large round of rebalancing to refine dozens more. Full patch notes are available on the official site.
Rewrite the Past – Enter the Fate of the Vaal League
The new league invites players to reshape the lost history of the Vaal civilisation. Build temples, tackle the Royal Architect, and face Queen Atziri, the new endgame Pinnacle boss. Each temple layout can be customised with over a dozen room types and new Vaal-based crafting mechanics, including:
- Juatalotli’s Triumph – Alters corrupted Vaal Unique items.
- Precursor Machine – Corrupts Tablets with ancient Vaal power.
- Jiquani’s Triumph – Twists and distorts Soul Cores.
- Kishara’s Acquisition – Attempts to salvage socketables from worn equipment.
Defeating Atziri awards the new staff Atziri’s Rule, capable of increasing gem levels on corrupted skills, trading life for damage, and summoning mirrors of refraction that turn projectiles into deadly novas.
The Abyss Returns Permanently
Abyss content is now permanently integrated into the game, complete with Atlas passives, more powerful Tablets, and the ability to upgrade Tablets into Rares after defeating the Arbiter of Ash. Several older Abyss mechanics—including Abyssal crafting and Waystone Instilling—have been removed to streamline progression.
