Published by Disney Interactive Studios, Phineas, Ferb and the rest of the “crew” are trapped in another dimension and are trying to get home. This fun, exciting and adventure filled game gets you to play as a variety of characters through different levels, fighting their way through obstacles in each dimension. Be it on your own, or playing with a friend, this game is great for people of all ages.
The game starts off with a general introduction to controls and the chance for you to practice before you get into the main story. The controls are easy to remember and grasp, even for those young players amongst us. The controls are as follows;
• A = Jump
• Double tap A = Double Jump
• B = Fire/use weapon
• C = Interact with objects
• 1 = swap character
• Control pad = cycle through weapons (gadgets)
• Analogue stick = move around
• Shake Wii remote = escape/attack close by enemies
When coming up against enemies, your weapons are there to help defend against them. In total there are 6 different weapons to choose from that can do things such as; shot baseballs, zap enemies, call in back-up, etc. Throughout the game you can upgrade your weapons by using the various workbenches that are located throughout the levels. At said workbenches you can attach different mods such as; colour changes, sound effects, etc. Throughout the game, your weapon levels up the more you use it, by it levelling up you are able to upgrade it more and more to get the best out of it by adding extra damage or decreasing the re-load time. The better your weapon the easier it will be to defeat the ‘bosses’ at the end of each dimension. Each boss requires you to do something different, be it avoiding rays or gelatine blobs, no two are the same.
Along the journey through the dimensions, there are electricity orbs for you to collect. These are spent at the workbenches for mods used for the gadgets. The more you collect the more you can purchase. As well as electricity orbs, there are collectables for you to find around each level, such as Tokens, figurines, gadget mods.
• Tokens are large golden coins, there are 5 per level and are used to play mini games, one coin per game.
• Figurines are harder to collect; they can be won in the crane mini game or purchased using tickets.
• Gadget mods are found around levels, some add an extra benefit to your weapon, such as; the baseballs bounce or fire faster. As well as being found they can also be purchased with tickets.
Tickets are obtained from the mini games; there are two of these to play, the crane game and a ball game. In the crane game you get one chance to grab a ball, there could be any number of tickets in that ball or maybe even a figurine. There are different colour balls, purples are easy to get and worth less, lime green are a bit harder and orange is the hardest. In the ball game, you throw a ball to hit the coloured sections on the board, red being the most and yellow the lowest. The more points you get the more tickets you receive, this game allows you to get tickets that bit easier.
Sometimes you will be asked to locate parts to build a contraption which will allow you to progress further into the level. Until you find these parts you will be unable to move any further, they are not hard to find but locating them comes with an obstacle to overcome such as defeating a large amount of enemies or finding the part amongst things. Once all the parts are collected, you can then access the blueprint sheet to build the device.
Game Play
There is a good solid storyline that continues throughout the game, it’s easy to grasp and understand but there is the occasional challenge for you to face.
Sound
A lovely song at the start of the game, and very fitting sound affects throughout as well. The sounds kept to the game and nothing felt unnecessary. The voices were very well done and helped me to continuously enjoy the game.
Graphics
Graphics were done really well, with it being a cartoon there isn’t much that could go wrong. The scenes were fun and appealing, there were a few glitches here and there but what game doesn’t have a few. They didn’t ruin the game or stop you being able to carry on playing.
Closing Comments
I really enjoyed playing this game, it was a nice relaxed game but at the same time wasn’t too easy. I would recommend this game to those who wanted something that was fun but didn’t require a lot of concentration. On the whole, this game was very fun.
